Steven K. Brumer, Senior Bankruptcy Counsel with Fleischer & Associates in San Diego, California, practices primarily in the areas of consumer bankruptcy, and the litigation of bankruptcy matters. Brumer is one of few attorneys who have earned a specialized post-graduate degree, the Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in taxation, from the University of San Diego. This course of study focuses on tax planning, analysis, and litigation.
A New York City native, Brumer graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 1999 and began practicing in Miami, Florida in that year. In 2001, he earned his LL.M. degree in taxation and obtained his license to practice law in California. Brumer also holds licenses to practice before various federal courts in California and Florida, as well as the United States Tax Court. Brumer is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association’s bankruptcy section and a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
An avid road cyclist, Brumer participates in numerous charity and century rides each year. Having been diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes (formerly known as "Juvenile Diabetes") while in law school, he serves the San Diego community as a mentor for children and teens living with diabetes and also serves as chairperson of the "Dads’ Club" and a member of the School Site Council at his children’s elementary school.
