Amy Mascott

After emerging from the fog of having three babies in four years, Amy—a Reading Specialist and former high school English teacher—created teachmama.com, where she shares the ways she tries to sneak a teeny-tiny bit of learning into her children’s every day.  Nothing super-fancy, expensive, or complicated—just learning through meaningful time and play together.

Amy is a contributor for a number of online literacy-related resources for parents, and her work at teachmama has been cited on dozens of professional and personal sites.  She’s a freelance writer with book-writing on the brain.  Her current challenge is just finding a second to write it all down.

And in the short amount of time that she’s not busy being a stay-at-home mom, tutoring students in the evenings, working as a literacy consultant for local schools, playing on the computer, or dragging her 6, 4, and (nearly!) 3-year old around town, you might find Amy skipping off to her pilates class, pounding the pavement in her ‘hood, or daydreaming about getting flames painted onto the side of her mini-van.

Contact Amy with any questions, concerns, or ideas at teachmama@verizon.net

Or feel free to Tweet with her about reading, literacy, or life in general on Twitter: @teachmama
