WASHINGTON, June 12, 2013 – The Mediterranean diet has long been praised for improving cardiovascular health.  A brand new app by Cleverox, “Photo Recipe Step by Step” for iOS teaches users to cook staples of the Mediterranean diet in a way that makes it easy and fun.

The Mediterranean diet is characterized by a high component of olive oil, fruit, nuts, vegetables, and cereals.  It also has a moderate component of fish and poultry, and small component of dairy products, red meat, processed meats, and sweets.  People that follow this diet often drink wine with meals in moderation.  While it is high in fat, with nearly 40% of calories from fat, the Mediterranean diet is very low in saturated fats.

“Photo Recipe Step by Step,” available in English and Spanish, is the first application to focus exclusively on the Mediterranean diet and its health benefits.  With easy, straightforward recipes and high-definition pictures for every step, virtually anyone can whip up a delicious and healthy Mediterranean-inspired meal.

The app contains recipes for hot and cold appetizers, main courses, and desserts featuring baked goods and fruit.  Main course recipes include beef, poultry, fish, seafood, rice, and pasta ideas.  From elaborate dishes to impress friends and family at special occasions to simple dishes you can prepare in a matter of minutes, there are recipes for almost every occasion.

However, “Photo Recipe Step by Step” doesn’t just contain recipes.  It also has a recipe tricks and cooking tips for each recipe, as well as a shopping list creator and equivalence tables.   Users can also add their own notes to recipes and there is a handy glossary that defines many of the terms used.   Recipes also include a utensils list with a photograph of the utensil for ease in identification.  The app even includes a timer to ensure every meal will come out perfect.
