TAMPA, April 9, 2013 ― Fox News’ Sean Hannity Show featured a distinguished group of black conservatives last night.
The town hall forum, titled Liberals Believe They Own Black America, gathered Jessie Lee Peterson, Star Parker, Kevin Jackson, Rev. C.L. Bryant among others to discuss the liberal view toward Black conservatives. I could not contain myself watching and listening to some of the finest conservatives in America.
It was amazing that there was such clarity of thought and purpose from those assembled.
Hannity’s main focus seemed to be the horrible names that those that question their views call black conservatives. Hannity could not move past the fact that liberals who continue decry racism do nothing to come to the defense of black conservatives when they are attacked.
He noted that liberals and the liberal media are always silent when terms like “Uncle Tom,” “sell-out,” “race-traitor,” and even “self-hating house nigger” are used to attack black conservatives.
The truth is that most black conservatives who have decided to speak out for the communities in which they live have long since stopped being affected by simple name calling. As a number of the guests mentioned, it is expected, and it is evidence that black conservatives have won the debate.
Some even wear it as a “badge of honor.”
What should Hannity have focused on instead?
Hannity’s viewers would be better served by asking the assembled guests for their solutions to the economic, social, and political problems that plague our nation.
Hannity missed the opportunity to find solutions for rampant violence in the black communities. There was not a more qualified group of conservatives to offer solutions to the educational woes of the inner city.
I salute Sean Hannity for bringing on and inviting back such an esteemed group of conservatives, but he missed a fantastic chance to move these discussions forward to solutions. Let’s hope he takes that opportunity again, and again, in the very near future.
