A Sign of the Times: New Muslim Brotherhood R4BIA symbol

CHARLOTTESeptember 24, 2013 – If you haven’t seen the new Muslim Brotherhood four-fingered R4BIA symbol yet, not to worry, it will not be long before you do. With four black fingers raised against a yellow background, it almost looks like an Islamic version of the Yellow Pages only it represents more than just your “fingers doing the walking.”

According to an R4BIA website, “The blessings of R4BIA have been spreading rapidly around the world, and they bring with them a new spirit, fresh ideas and a novel sense of brotherhood. Conscientious human beings in more than 30 nations, who stand against all kinds of injustice and inequity, express themselves through the R4BIA sign, flag, logo and slogans.”

That sounds nice on the surface, but the implications, as always when dealing with Islamists, are far deeper and have little to do with “a new spirit, fresh ideas and a novel sense of brotherhood.”

The R4BIA movement is accompanied by music written by the late Egyptian scholar Sayyid Qutb who was a major force in the philosophies of the Muslim Brotherhood. Qutb had much to do with the concept of re-establishing the Islamic Caliphate, an idea that continues to gain strength within the Muslim world. The new Caliphate was to be based in Egypt, the home of the Muslim Brotherhood which was established in the late 1920s in Cairo.

Islamists would have us believe the four fingers represent a sign of “double peace” but nothing could be further from the truth.

The MB used claims of moderation during the Arab Spring when it rose to power under the leadership of President Mohamed Morsi. Within a year, Morsi was ousted because the Brotherhood had no intentions of becoming moderate and Sharia law quickly became the law of the land

Since the overthrow of Morsi, due to overwhelming opposition by a majority of Egyptians, a court ruling has declared the Muslim Brotherhood illegal with all its assets to be confiscated.

Needless to say the MB was not happy with the decision, but perhaps more telling for Americans was the Muslim Day Parade on Madison Avenue in New York City over the weekend where the R4BIA signs were in abundance at a pro-Brotherhood demonstration.

According to Bare Naked Islam the Muslim Brotherhood had a well planned strategy at the beginning of the Arab Spring and their rise to power in Egypt. Initially the goal was to rid the region of tyrannical regimes in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. Islamic rulers would take over along with Sharia law. Once that stronghold was established, the Muslim Brotherhood would move into Jordan and Saudi Arabia to complete the process and then install Prime Minister Recep Erdogan of Turkey as the head of the new Caliphate.

Unfortunately for the Brotherhood, Egyptians, with the support of the military, rose up in protest before Morsi et al could institute their plan.

But here is where the situation muddies to a point that even the mainstream press is having difficulty sorting out the players.

To begin with, the Obama administration has at least six Muslim Brotherhood members serving in high advisory positions in the White House. What does that mean? Maybe nothing. Even so, it should, at the very least, bear scrutiny. Combine that with the fact that Obama once stated that Erdogan was among a handful of world leaders with whom he had developed a close personal bond.

It was Obama who applied pressure to Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to apologize to Erdogan for an incident involving a shipping blockade in Gaza.

Couple that with Obama’s foreign policy debacles in Libya and, more recently, Syria, which is still unresolved and could have disastrous implications for the U.S. in other countries in the Middle East, and there is clearly cause for concern.

Nobody seems to know, or understand, what the Russians and Syrians are doing following negotiations in Geneva to eliminate Syria’s WMD. Egypt remains in turmoil. Iran seems to be buying time for its nuclear program by calling for a dialogue in New York while they continue to make weapons at home.

Meanwhile, terrorists aligned with Al-Qaeda are attacking malls in Kenya using some personnel that were recruited in the United States. Islamists continue to control Mali and Nigeria.

Yet we are supposed to believe that four fingers on a yellow background represent a new era of understanding and fresh ideas.

Unlikely.
