San Francisco Giants MLB Preview

LOS ANGELES, March 29, 2013 — The San Francisco Giants got hot at the right time in 2012 and ended up winning the World Series with a 94-68 regular season record. They did this surprisingly without their former ace, Tim Lincecum.

Tim Lincecum became a less than average pitcher last year after dominating the game from 2008 through 2011. The Giants have to be happy that Lincecum rejected their five-year offer worth $100 million, instead opting for just a two-year deal that makes him a free agent after this season.

Lincecum joins Barry Zito as giant question marks in a rotation that will depend heavily on Matt Cain. The Giants parted ways with their bearded closer and former Beach Boy, Brian Wilson, after he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2012. The former closer is still looking for a team.

A repeat of 2012 is doubtful, but then again, many people thought a repeat of 2010 was doubtful. This year the Giants will be chasing the newly funded Los Angeles Dodgers while Arizona will be nipping at San Francisco’s heels. If the Giants slip up at all, Arizona will be waiting to grab the NL Wild Card.
