San Diego Padres preview: Don’t expect much this year

LOS ANGELES, March 27, 2013 — The rebuilding San Diego Padres finished 2012 with a 76-86 record. This season won’t be much different as they are still rebuilding and looking to the future.

Power hitting second base prospect Jedd Gyorko will get his first taste of the majors this year. It will be interesting to see if Carlos Quentin can stay healthy. His knee is already starting to act up this spring. Chase Headley will be out for at least the first month of the season.

Edinson Volquez and Clayton Richard will lead an unimpressive rotation for the Padres. The best thing the Padres have going for them is the Colorado Rockies.
