Chapter Jackson brings message of welfare reform to California

CALIFORNIA, January 7, 2014 — Despite Ronald Reagan’s efforts, California’s welfare system remains broken.

In 1976, then Governor of California Ronald Reagan was on a mission. He said, “The welfare state is broken, and I’m the man to fix it.”

While on the campaign trail, Reagan told stories about high-end public housing complexes, some with gyms and a swimming pool. He told the crowds how one California welfare recipient supported herself with food stamps while studying the art of witchcraft at the government expense.

Reagan regaled supporters with the story of Linda Taylor, the original “welfare queen” who perfected deception to the government and defrauded multiple agencies to live an extremely comfortable lifestyle.

Yet today, January 2014, California is the Capital of Welfare. The Linda Taylor’s are multiplying. Many people have moved to California just to receive the ample benefits the state is offering.

The state has become a dependency of Electronic Benefit Transfer Cards (EBTs). “Because It’s Free, Swipe Yo EBT” said Chapter Jackson, a hip hop, rap and R&B artist known as the New “Queen of Welfare.”

“Chapter Jackson,” real name LaToya Hicks, was born in Los Angeles and wants Californians to take a good look at themselves regarding the generational abuse of government dependencies.

This artist is on her own mission to bring awareness to the widespread abuse of the welfare system through videos and music.

Jackson chose music to deliver her message of political satire to reach the community. Some are offended by the raw approach she takes to deliver her message, but supporters say America must open its eyes to what is really destroying the state of California.

One video addresses the strategy by some in the urban communities to have many children to increase their benefits. In California, benefits include fast food, California housing vouchers, and daycare subsidies, all paid for by the EBT Cards.

“They have a life program so you can get benefits on your phone and your electricity. So, you actually benefit from not working if you have a lot of children,” Jackson told KEEL Morning News. “If you are a single person, it doesn’t really benefit you much because if you have children, you get Section 8 free housing, free medical, free cash, free food.”

On Facebook: Keyauna Alisha Golden stated from  “Chapter Jackson plays roles in her music using “Satire” which is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement. Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon”.
