LOS ANGELES, February 26, 2012 - While Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich speaks at a Burlingame California Republican Party 2012 Spring Convention luncheon he addresses the burning of Korans at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan.
If you are unaware, the books were burned not to defile Islam but because they were being used by detainees to “pass” coded messages.” They were burned not to outrage Islam but to protect American soldiers. It was not done belligerently or to show disrespect. It was done to the side and in order to destroy not the religious, but warring message contained within.
In response to this protective measure, an unknown assailant killed two American military officers in a heavily secured compound yesterday following a week of angry anti-American protests.
On Thursday last, Obama was found personally apologizing for the burning of the holy books.
“I find it very offensive as commander in chief that he is apologizing to the Afghans when in fact he should be demanding an apology from [Afghan President Hamid] Karzai,” Gingrich said to much applause.
The dreams of hope and change are spoken during the luncheon as the Gingrich-Obama contrasts between the President and the former Georgia congressman are spelled out to cheering Californian crowd members Saturday afternoon even as recent polls are showing him trailing badly in California, No. 4 in the four-man field.
“If you think the U.S. is inevitably weak and guilty and we should run around the world apologizing and appeasing, then Barack Obama is your candidate,” Gingrich says.
Newt Gingrich echos the thoughts of plenty of American including one of the 21 Top Urban Game Changers, urban voices that are using social media, from blogs to video, to speak out on behalf of conservative Afro-Americans.
In the video below Kira Davis who states: “Wherein I follow the lead of our own President and apologize to President Karzai of Afghanistan on behalf of America.”
However her apology may more accurately reflect the response many Americans have, as they are books, books our tax dollars paid for and books that were being used to plot against America. And as we respectfully burn our flag when its intended use is over.
Allison Keyes for NPR reports: “The Quran is considered to be the speech of God to humankind — word for word — explains Imam Johari Abdul-Malik.
“The traditional way of disposing of used or damaged copies of the text of the Quran is by burning it,” he says.”
While the burning was not done in a manner that was religiously respectful, it was also not done with malice or intent to cite the Afghanis. It was a military response to a perceived threat and the only error was that soliders, trying to stay alive acted expeditiously to keep themselves, and Americans, safe.
Kira Davis is an Afro-American California resident who is a powerful Republican woman making changes in our state. Ms Davis has concerns about the nation’s shift away from traditional American values and Constitutional principles.
And our President.
Her website, Kiradavis.net, is dedicated to defending and arguing for conservative values and principles within in politics and pop culture.
What she has to say may shock you. It may anger you. It may make you cheer.
