Hillary Clinton's Benghazi hearings: Winners and losers

LOS ANGELES, January 23, 2013 — In Washington, DC, everything is political. Even matters of life and death are conducted with focus groups, pollsters, and the next presidential election as backdrops.

Congressional hearings into the murders of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, produced a lot of sparks and separated the best of America from its sickest worst. When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton screeched “What difference at this point does it make,” America saw pure ugliness.

So who were the winners and losers in the Benghazi hearings?

The biggest losers were Ambassador Chris Stevens, Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, and diplomat Sean Smith. They were murdered, and as of now they died in vain. They died for government officials more interested in their own political futures than in the truth. They died for narcissistic politicians who turned their backs on them in their hours of need and shroud the truth to this day.

The next biggest loser was Hillary Clinton. “What difference?” should be in every 2016 campaign commercial if she has the arrogance to run for President. Her entire life of destroying innocents has never stopped her. She let her entire country down, but she sure knows how to fight to the death for herself. She was a “Survivor” before it became a television program.

Her callousness was on full display today, with several crocodile tears thrown in for good measure.

The liberal members of Congress who fawned all over her were losers. They wasted valuable time praising her daughter and encouraging her presidential run. A sycophant from American Samoa blubbered, even though Samoa is a Girl Scout cookie and not a state.

The American people lost because they did not get the truth, and they never will.

The two major winners both came from the Senate. Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson grilled Clinton until she cracked. Her frigid veneer finally gave way as he repeatedly refused to allow her interruptions. He was calm, tough, dogged, and successful at revealing her true character. He showed his brilliance after the hearing by pointing out that her emotional outburst, as with everything else she has ever said or done, was as calculated, coordinated, and scripted as the Benghazi attacks themselves.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was magnificent. He made it clear that he holds her culpable for the deaths of four innocent Americans. He also said what other leaders refused to say. He would have fired her. That is what “accountability” and “being held responsible” actually mean. Hillary Clinton throws haymakers and then claims the big, mean, boys are picking on her.

The boys almost always cower in front of her, and Senator Paul showed gumption. He drew first blood in what may be the fight for 2016.

South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan summed up the situation perfectly when he called the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi a “death trap.” The administration was guilty of “diplomatic malpractice.” When Clinton tried to remove his human “emotion,” from the hearings, it showed her lack of it.

Florida Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen spoke for every frustrated conservative when she debunked the nonsensical “blame Bush” strategy of “budgetary constraints” for the murders. The State Department spent $1.3 billion on climate change rather than enhanced security. Liberals get angry when they are accused of caring more about trees and animals than human beings.

The truth hurts. Perhaps somebody should inform them that Islamists butcher flora, fauna, and bunnies.

Pennsylvania Congressman Tom Marino showed that several pictures are worth several million words. He did not even need to speak. His visuals of terror at embassies spoke volumes that only the State Department could ignore.

President Obama clearly won. Delaying the truth until after the 2012 election was victory enough. Now he has obliterated it permanently. The liberal media will not cover any story that casts him as an incompetent executive. “Sour grapes” will be the epithet liberals toss at conservatives. Despite the recent murders of more Americans in Algeria, this story will fade away along with Solyndra and Fast and Furious. Obama is God, and God does not make mistakes.

Radical Islamists also won. They now know that the punishment for murdering Americans is absolutely nothing. Obama worshipers will bring up the killing of Osama bin Laden while ignoring everything else. Radical Islam is murdering Americans in country after country and the response has been to subvert First Amendment rights for Benghazi and Second Amendment rights for Fort Hood.

Islamists still have the right to kill at will with impunity, and they will continue to do so.
