LOS ANGELES, April 9, 2013 – Multiple students were stabbed on the Cyfir campus of Houston’s Lone Star College. The man, wielding a knife, was running from building to building and randomly stabbing people before he was eventually tackled. A North Cypress Medical Center spokeswoman said that hospital has received six victims; all are now in stable condition.
As of 1:00pm Texas time, the campus was on lockdown.
On January 22, Lone Star College’s Lone Star College‘s North Harris campus was the scene of gunfire that left several people wounded.
Today’s tragedy will immediately add fuel to the fire of the gun control debate. Lone Star College is a gun free zone. Unlike Roman Empire days, it is not typical for a man armed only with a knife to be able to successfully stab so many people.
President Obama has been traveling the country zealously pushing a gun control agenda even as momentum for gun control has been fading. For those who want the issue to be settled, Lone Star College will provide a much-needed reminder of why many private citizens want to conceal and carry guns.
While those hurt today were being attacked like animals, they had no recourse to defend themselves. They were trapped on a gun free campus.
Celebrities, like Jim Carrey push for gun control, while they seek safety behind armed bodyguards. It is easy to say “Do as I say, not as I do.”
The Second Amendment exists for a reason, and today’s tragedy should remind people why “shall not be infringed” is more than a slogan. It is a matter of life and death.
President Obama has derided a large segment of American society as bitter people clinging to bibles and guns. Americans may wish to do both right now as we pray for the victims and take meaningful effective steps to reduce these tragedies.
