LOS ANGELES, September 28, 2012—George W. Bush, Tony Blair, and John Howard have all retired.
Barack Obama is hiding under the covers unable to function until Valerie Jarrett pats him on the head and reminds him how special he is. That gives him the courage to spend time with Joy Behar and the rest of “The View” while Benjamin Netanyahu tried to prevent a global armageddon. Mr. Obama will not use the words “Radical Islam.” This is moral abdication.
Bibi is now the leader of the free world.
One day after the leader of Iran desecrated Yom Kippur with his address before the United Nations, Mr. Netanyahu offered a dose of reality.
For those who blame Mr. Netanyahu and Jews in general for every problem from Islamofascism to restless leg syndrome, events in Sweden after his speech offered the billionth warning.
The Malmo Jewish Community Center in Sweden was firebombed. The bombers were not Belgian Catholics, Dutch Protestants, Portuguese Seikhs or Lichtensteinian Hindus.
The entire world knows who and what the problem is. Just like the 1930s, that same world is now again turning a blind eye.
For this and so many reasons, Mr. Netanyahu’s words must be heeded.
As he said, King David claimed Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel 3,000 years ago.
“Other dictators and their failed ideologies are the ones who have been discarded.”
“I’m Yisroel Chai, the Jewish state will live forever.”
“The Jewish people have come home. We will never be uprooted again.”
The struggle today was between “the modern vs the medieval.”
In some areas of the Middle East, Radical Islam reflects that it with the “medieval, not life, but death, is celebrated.”
Unlike the Islamists, Israel actually contributes positively to the world. “Our know-how is in every cellphone that you are using.”
“Every year thousands of Arabs from the Palestinian territories and Arabs throughout the Middle East, Arabs come to Israeli hospitals TO be treated by Israeli doctors.”
“We won’t solve our conflict with libelous speeches at the UN, unilateral declarations of statehood.”
We must push back hard against the “medieval forces of Radical Islam.”
“They want to end the modern world.”
They are the “same bitter soil of intolerance.”
The intolerance comes “first toward their fellow Muslims, then Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, secularists…”
“Iran and al Qaeda are motivated by the same hatred, the same lust for violence.”
“Just imagine Iranian aggression with nuclear weapons.”
“Militant Jihadists are not secular Marxists.”
“There were no Soviet suicide bombers.”
“When forced to choose between their ideology and their survival, the Soviets chose survival.”
“Iran uses diplomacy to buy time.”
While sanctions “had an effect on the economy,” they “have not stopped Iran’s nuclear program either.”
“Iran has doubled the number of centrifuges.”
There is “only one way to peacefully prevent Iran from getting atomic bombs. That is to place a clear red line on Iran’s atomic weapons program.”
“Red lines don’t lead to war. Red lines prevent war.”
“NATO’s red line helped keep the peace for nearly half a century.”
“Failure to place red lines is what often invites aggression.”
Mr. Netanyahu spoke about the red lines of Hitler in the 1930s and Saddam in the 1990s.
Clear red lines have worked with Iran. Mr. Netanyahu gave as an example the Strait of Hormuz red line issued by the United States. In that instance Iran backed off
A Red line should be drawn before Iran completes the second stage of bomb development, that being enough medium enriched uranium.
“Intelligence agencies are not foolproof.”
“Faced with a clear red line, Iran will back down.” That will give diplomacy and sanctions to work.
Israeli culture is far superior to Islamist culture. Israel represents “Liberty, equality and human rights,” and that is “because of our (Jewish) traditions, not in spite of them.”
“These are the timeless values of my people, and the world’s greatest gift to mankind.”
“Let us protect our common civilization.”
We can listen to Mr. Netanyahu and do this.
The alternative is to spend time with (non-Jewish despite the moniker) Whoopi Goldberg while the rest of the world is blown to kingdom come by Islamist barbarians.
Nobody is safe, and staying neutral is no longer an acceptable option.
Just ask Sweden.
George W. Bush told the world that people are either with the terrorists, or against them.
He is still right, and it would be nice if somebody besides Mr. Netanyahu understood this.
