LOS ANGELES, September 27, 2011 ― While Jews were celebrating the holy day of Yom Kippur, religious zealots of other religions around the globe just could not leave well alone.
The President of Iran with the name that is hard to spell and pronounce came to a city with many Jews to announce that they should all die. The United Nations, often a bastion of worthless anti-Semitic and anti-American terrorist lovers, again kept true to form.
The man known as Mahmoud Aqua-Velva-jad (Dennis Miller), Ahmedina-wack-job (Michael Medved), Armageddonijad (Tygrrrr Express), I’m-a-dinner-jacket (Craig Ferguson) and Ahmedinejad (his actual name that his ashamed parents still weep about) celebrated Yom Kippur by explaining why Israel should be wiped off the map. American security forces at taxpayer expense kept sharpshooters from doing the world a favor.
While the United States, Israeli and three or four other civilized delegations on Earth usually walk out of his speech, this time they did not show up to begin with. However, that gesture is simply not enough. It would be really nice if the President of the United States and the head of the Democratic National Committee could find it in their hearts to object to Ahmedinejad with actual words.
Barack Obama and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz may not endorse Mr. Ahmedinejad, but he does not inspire the same rage and passion in them as do conservative Republicans such as Mitt Romney and Eric Cantor. Ms. Wasserman-Schultz and Mr. Cantor are both Jewish, and it would a beautiful start to the Jewish New Year if she could understand that he is not the enemy.
Mitt Romney is not Jewish, but he is pro-Israel. He spent his Yom Kippur (known in the Mormon world as “Wednesday,”) being attacked by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In the same way that Wasserman-Schultz uses her being Jewish to denigrate Cantor with impunity, Reid uses his Mormonism to denigrate Romney; Reid declared that his fellow Latter-day Saint “sullies” the Mormon faith.
Perhaps Romney is disgracing his fellow Mormons by committing such atrocities as tithing 15 percent of his income to charity. Giving to charity is a form of “love thy neighbor,” which is similar to Jihadists flying planes into towers except it is not.
While Reid did not declare himself the Sultan Grand Mufti of Mormonism, that is only because the Mormon faith does not have such a designee. The Mormon faith does involve a man named Joseph Smith, but Reid, based on his behavior, seems to base his beliefs and actions on Joseph Stalin. Stalin became famous partly by taking religious people and dehumanizing them. Or un-humanizing them, helping reduce them to their constituent parts.
Mr. Reid is married to a Jewish woman, but there is no word on whether he or Wasserman-Schultz atoned for their various hateful comments toward anyone to the political right of Stalin.
While Reid was rambling in Las Vegas and Armageddonijad was spewing in Manhattan, another potential Islamist Jew-hater was spraying in a Manhattan subway.
Her name was Mona, and she was not a showgirl. She apparently did not like a subway poster that suggested that Americans should choose civilized human beings (Jews) over savages (Jihadists). The poster did not criticize all Muslims, and most Muslims also hate Jihadists. Apparently Mona decided that this poster was offensive to Jihadists and their supporters. She tried to spraypaint over the sign.
Like most Islamists, she was not too bright about her attempt at graffiti. She used pink paint rather than black paint, which covered up nothing. When another woman filmed her and tried to stop her, Mona called for the police. The police arrested Mona, because apparently the first Amendment does not allow defacing public property.
Unlike American liberals who make excuses about some “movie” enraging Islamists, sane people understand that this is who, what, and how they are. The NYPD were not concerned that Mona was “offended” by a poster. They determined she was an Islamist crackpot, and decided that she was a bigger threat to society than the poster. President Obama and all liberals could learn from New York’s finest.
Those who don’t get it are like Phil Collins in Genesis living in the “Land of Confusion.” Cowards will shrug and just say that “This is the world we live in.”
That’s not good enough. Accepting barbarism is not the answer. Crushing it is.
Whether it be Armageddonijad, Harry Reid, or Mona, the same lesson applies to leftists and Islamists.
They are bullies, and the only thing bullies understand is force.
This is why on Yom Kippur, while I prayed for peace, I remained prepared for all out war. Prayers are nice, but wars end when bullies are beaten into submission. Sometimes this beating should be delivered verbally, and sometimes with munitions.
Bullies cannot, should not, and must not be coddled. Yom Kippur is the Jewish day of atonement, but the very existence of Judaism is a story of survival against those wanting to kill us. The good guys are those who respect religious freedom. The bad guys are those trying to suppress that freedom.
There is no middle ground on this.
Any attempt to denigrate my Judaism or Mitt Romney’s Mormonism should be met with overwhelming force until nobody ever attempts to do so again.
Only then will there be a true and lasting peace.
