SOUTH FLORIDA, October 10, 2012 – President Barack Obama had an air of invincibility built by belief in his own intellectual superiority and reinforced by his supporters. Yet the veneer came crashing down when he was crushed in his debate with Governor Mitt Romney.
In a twisted cruel fate that could not happen to a “nicer” guy, Obama has sent current Vice President Joe Biden to the rescue.
The issue is not that Biden is an entertaining gaffe machine who is never held accountable for comments that would be treated by the media as idiocy if uttered by Republicans. The issue is not even that his opponent Congressman Paul Ryan is an intellectual titan, who unlike many politicians, actually does know what he is talking about.
What really matters is that the deck is stacked against Biden. Ryan has to argue that Obama’s policies are a disaster, and that a change is imperative. Biden has to defend the indefensible.
He will play the loyal attack dog and get in the gutter. It is expected of him.
Mr. Biden cannot brag about his experience. Spending thirty years in Congress is not a selling point. He certainly cannot brag about his foreign policy experience. The media neglects to mention that he recommended breaking Iraq into three separate nations.
Mr. Ryan will bring this up if necessary.
Simply put, Biden has hung around the Senate for three decades without accomplishing much. Without surfing the internet thoroughly, most people off of the top of their heads cannot mention anything Joe Biden has done.
Therefore, Biden will continue the Obama tradition of treating debates as school playground “rankout contests” that are not so funny when adult Americans are suffering.
The war on women will be mentioned. Perhaps Ryan will mention that the real war on women happened in the Middle East, where reporter Lara Logan was sexually assaulted while her assailants yelled “Jew” over and over. Ms. Logan is not Jewish, but she is one women who understands that keeping women safe is not about Sandra Fluke and her platitudes. It is about creating a stable world.
Ms. Logan made it clear that the Obama administration are a bunch of foreign policy incompetents who are doing nothing as the world burns. If Biden dares try to continue the Stephanie Cutter and Barack Obama strategy of blaming Romney for the deaths of others, then perhaps Obama’s policies can be blamed for the assault on Ms. Logan.
After the gender card, Biden will be tempted to play the race card. Actress Stacey Dash, a black woman, just announced her support for Romney. Liberals responded on Twitter by spewing racist venom at her. This is what liberals due to minority conservatives, and Obama and Biden never have the honor or the decency to stand up and condemn such rhetoric. Obama preached from his pulpit that he wanted a more civil tone, which meant that his side should lash out while conservatives are silenced.
Then Biden will make imbecilic remarks about Big Bird. If ever there was proof that liberals are a bunch of children, just observe the ridiculous commercial focusing on Big Bird.
While liberals talk about Big Bird, the Middle East is burning, and Americans are now learning that the administration covered up the truth of the September 11th, 2012 attacks. They were planned and requests for more security were ignored by the administration.
This is in addition to the coverup over green energy fraud from Solyndra and their failed cousins, as well as an anti-gun sting known as Fast and Furious that left an American border agent killed.
Joe Biden will spend the entire debate trying to change the subject. He will say that Romney and Ryan will make things worse, but ignore who has actually failed in front of us all the last four years.
While he and the liberals live on Sesame Street, the rest of us will focus on improving the real world. Not everybody agrees with the ideas Ryan puts forth, but at least he has them. As for Biden, it will take every ounce of discipline for Ryan not to ask questions that many of us ask.
Joe, what do you do all day? What have you been doing the last four years? Why are you even here? What are you going to do the next four years? Has Obama even told you?
Mr. Ryan is so incredibly superior to Biden that he has to guard against overconfidence. Unlike Obama, Ryan possesses humility, which should solve that problem. The media may be tempted to judge the race based on the “point spread” of expectations, where Biden “wins” if he fails to actually light himself on fire on the stage like Daffy Duck.
The times are serious, and Paul Ryan is a serious thinker and policy analyst. He is that rare mix of interesting wonk.
Joe Biden is that rare combination of a man who has nothing to say while saying virtually everything.
Joe Biden knows that his only chance is to resort to the slash and burn politics of personal destruction.
America is better than that, and Ryan would serve himself and America well to remind everyone that the 2008 candidate of hope and change is now the 2012 bully who tries to divide and conquer to save his own job while everyone else is losing theirs.
