Final pre-election jobs report is dreadful, zero net jobs created

The final jobs report before the 2012 election came in, and the numbers are miserable. Zero net jobs were created and the unemployment rate edged higher. This is Obama's America.

SOUTH FLORIDA, November 2, 2012 – The last jobs report before the election came in, and the numbers are dreadful. For those who love economic misery and stagnation, please move “forward” and vote for Barack Obama.

For those who actually want to have a chance at working at a real job that pays a real wage, vote for Mitt Romney.

President Obama claims that everything he does is “simple math” and “common sense.” In that case, let’s crunch the numbers. The jobless rate clicked upward from 7.8% to 7.9%. In Obamaworld, 170,000 jobs were created last month. In the real world, 170,000 people also stopped looking for work.

This means that in the real world, zero jobs were created.

President Obama is four years into the job, and zero jobs have been created.

All we get from him and his supporters is “I inherited a mess,” “It’s all George W. Bush’s fault,” and meaningless slogans like “Forward.”

Slogans are not jobs. Platitudes do not put food on the table. Mentioning the words “middle class families” in every speech is not the same thing as actually doing anything to help them. This gets to the heart of the Obama presidency. The rest of the world understands that words are not deeds. In Obamaworld, intending to do something is the same as actually doing it. Intentions are results. In the real world, intentions are not results.

Liberals love to attack the “Bush years.” Let’s look at those years.

The Bush economy, despite “inheriting a mess” from Bill Clinton in 2000, and facing the 9/11 attacks, hummed along from 2002 through 2007. While most of the last four years have been better than the final two months of the Bush presidency, the six preceding Bush years were far better than anything since Mr. Obama took office.

President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden repeat their mantras that “Osama bin Laden is dead and GM is alive.” They will say that “al Qaeda is decimated and is on the run,” and “the auto industry is roaring back.”

Little of this is true. Osama bin Laden is dead. So is United States Ambassador Stevens and some brave Navy SEALs. General Motors is in ruins. Chrysler is outsourcing to China.

Zero net jobs are being created.

President Ronald Reagan inherited a mess. He turned things around, and created the largest peacetime expansion in history. Millions of jobs were created, while winning the Cold War.

President Barack Obama created zero net jobs. The final pre-election jobs report may eventually be revised to show more pessimistic numbers (they often are), but not more optimistic ones.

This is President Obama’s record. He owns it. There is nobody else to blame. Mocking Mitt Romney for returning Americans to the days of George W. Bush should be Mr. Obama’s undoing.

Mr. Bush for six years created jobs. Mr Obama never did. Based on his record, he should lose his own job on Tuesday so that Mr. Romney can help put the rest of us back to work.
