LOS ANGELES, July 25, 2012 — Over the last few days, Americans have rightly tuned out everything else and spread love for the people of Aurora, Colorado. Much of the world kept us in their hearts as they did after 9/11. Christian Bale, star of “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” was one of many people who personally visited the surviving shooting victims in the hospital.
Unfortunately, only good people take time from their own lives to care about others. Bad actors do not take time off. The news media may disappear, but the very worst of humanity spend every waking minute trying to create the next tragedy for America and the rest of the West.
Iran and Syria remain global cancers, and a pair of evil acts book-ended the Colorado shooting. Last week an Iranian-backed Hezbollah homicide bomber murdered innocent Israeli Jews in Bulgaria. The mullahs and Iranian President Ahmadeinijad embody the definition of evil.
A fellow dictator, the vile Bashar al-Assad of Syria, took his turn this week. Just when it looks like his brutal crackdown cannot get worse, it does. He sent his army to fire on woshippers entering a mosque for Ramadan evening prayers, murdering up to 30 Syrian citizens.
Let every aspect of that event sink in.
Assad’s army fired on people entering a mosque, a holy place of worship.
They did this during Ramadan, the holiest holiday on the Muslim calendar.
His men fired on unarmed worshippers, entering a mosque to pray to Allah — God. The people were most likely hungry from fasting, as is required during Ramadan by Islamic law.
His men murdered these people in cold blood. Original estimates had 30 innocent people being killed, 15 of them now stored in the mosque. The rest lie in the streets.
The question is not about what happened. The normal reactions of grief and anger apply. The issue is what the world does about it.
Talk about “Plan B” has surfaced in the wake of Plan A, which is to do nothing and let Syrians die.
It is time for some cold hard truths.
Like the Fort Hood shooting, this is not “workplace violence.” It is brutality that is all too common in the Islamic world. Brutal dictators like Assad and brutal Islamists make common cause to spread terror abroad and crush opposition at home. Radical Islam murders Christians, Jews, Hindus, atheists, and yes, moderate Muslims. They make it easy for dictators like Assad to use violence against his own people, and in turn this violence breeds Islamofascists who hate not only the rest of the world, but leaders like Assad and the Muslims who support him.
Radical Islam and Muslim dictators are two parts of a global cancer. Islamofascists murdered 3,000 New Yorkers in 2001. They murdered people in Bali in 2002, Madrid in 2004, London in 2005, Mumbai in 2008, Texas in 2009, and Bulgaria in 2012. They have murdered plenty of Afghani and Iraqi Muslims trying to build a democracy, while murdering Jews in Israel on every day of the week ending in the word “day.” They murdered Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri in 2005.
That is only the twenty-first century. Radical Islam began forty years ago. It was four decades ago at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany, that Israeli athletes were murdered simply for being Jewish.
In 1985, Islamists took wheelchair-bound Leon Klinghoffer and threw him overboard from a cruise ship to his death.
In 1994, Islamofascists blew up a synagogue in Argentina.
In 1998, they blew up the United States embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
In 2000, they attacked the U.S.S. Cole.
Nobody is safe, not even Muslims entering a Mosque on Ramadan.
Actually, a few people are safe. The Islamofascist terrorists are safe since the world will do nothing.
Even CNN’s Christiane Amanpour will not be able to blame the Ramadan killing on her favorite whipping boys, “intransigent Jewish settlers in the West Bank.” A Muslim dictator murdered Muslim worshippers at a Muslim mosque in a Muslim country. Violence at a mosque? Islamic fundamentalists did the same thing at the holiest Mosque in all of Islam, in Mecca in 1979. Hundreds died there. What reason does a Muslim dictator have to worry about 30?
This violence has nothing to do with Jews, Israel, Palestinians, or “settlements.” This is about the politics of Islam. Whether one is Sunni, Shia, Sufist, Salafist, or Allawite, this violence spares no one.
The media predicted that Assad would fall in 36 hours. That was over one week ago. He may last another 36 years since nobody outside of Syria has the stomach to stop him.
Now Assad is threatening to use chemical weapons. President Obama wagged his finger and issued a stern warning, which nobody on this Earth takes seriously. Hillary Clinton visited Assad recently, which apparently did a world of good if one uses the Michael Jackson logic that “I’m bad” means good.
Vladimir Putin is taken seriously, but his actions will not be based on emotion. The reason terrorists are hesitant to attack Russia again is because he does not let moral constraints get in the way of a total pursuit and execution of the terrorists. Collateral damage means nothing to him. He may refuse to push Syria just to embarrass America. The same goes for China.
The civilized world knows what the problem is. They know that Islamists do not obey the “rules” of the civilized world. If Islamists murder Muslim worshipers at a Mosque in a Muslim nation on Ramadan, they will murder anybody, anywhere.
The only way to stop them is to actually stop them. Platitudes do not save lives. They lead to more lives being lost. The solution is for the West to stop talking and actually do something. Otherwise, it will be impossible to scrub the blood off of millions of hands when the next wave of Islamist terror attacks occur any minute from now.
