LOS ANGELES, December 22, 2012 — For last minute Christmas (and really belated Hanukkah) shoppers everywhere, stay here. Most people know the only places more dangerous than Gaza and Detroit are American shopping malls just before Christmas. Shoppers wanting to avoid cold weather and soccer moms disguised as Jihadists ready to kill over toys can stay warm and shop online. Consider buying books, since reading is fuel for the mind.
In order to help make America a better, more intelligent, and more humorous nation, and since liberalism and humor are mutually exclusive, here is an updated list of great conservative books.
Burt Prelustsky is proudly rightword of Attila the Hun. He spent decades in the entertainment industry working on fine programs like “M.A.S.H.” His book, “Liberals: America’s Termites,” is for those possessing utter scorn for Islamists and leftists. He is hysterically funny but within his right-wing mind.
Evan Sayet may be the best conservative satirist in the country. His speech to the Heritage Foundation went viral on YouTube, and Andrew Breitbart called it one of the “five most important conservative speeches ever given.” His book, “The Kindergarten of Eden” exposes how the modern liberal thinks, and answers such burning questions as, what do liberals have against God? What do they have against Jews in Israel? Why is Bruce Springsteen such an eternal downer?
Austin Hill is a conservative Idaho radio host frequently filling in for other top hosts throughout America. His book “The Virtues of Capitalism” would be unnecessary if this entire country were economically literate. With socialism trying to claw back from the ash heap of history, a good reminder is in order.
Ben Shapiro is a hard-charging young gun who goes after Hollywood from the inside. His most recent book, “Primetime Propaganda,” explains how the left has used TV to convince America not just that the left is correct, but that its policies are morally virtuous while all else is evil. Not only is Hollywood biased against conservatives – it actively puts political messages into our entertainment programming. Shapiro explains how the left took over our television sets and what to do about it.
Ward Connerly is a proud black conservative determined to see schools finally start accepting students based on merit. He runs the American Civil Rights Institute. His book, “Lessons from My Uncle James: Beyond Skin Color to the Content of Our Character,” is a powerfully moving read. A black friend of mine exclaimed after reading it, “His Uncle James is why I became a Republican.”
Greg Gutfeld is already famous. Some wonder why a guy needing no introduction or promotion is getting both. His book, “The Joy of Hate,” should be read because America is a meritocracy and Gutfeld merits it. Despite the misleading surname, Gutfeld is not Jewish. Including him on this list of authors fills the detested diversity quota requirement.
Tom Del Beccaro is the outgoing California Republican Party Chairman. An accomplished attorney, Mr. Del Beccaro has been praised by conservative thinkers including Mona Charen. His book, “The New Conservative Paradigm,” shows the way for the Republican Party to get back to conservatism. From supply-side economics to other core principles, he combines history and economics into a very readable book He also runs the website “Political Vanguard.”
Andrew Breitbart released his book “Righteous Indignation” less than a year before his untimely death at age 43. It’s a look at the “Weinergate” episode, detailing how Anthony Weiner tried to make Breitbart the focus of his sex scandal, and how this ended up helping to destroy Weiner’s career. Sales of Breitbart’s books benefit the family he left behind. This Thanksgiving, his wife and four children will be without the husband and father they loved so much. Spread love his family’s way by buying a book by a guy who influenced a ton of young guns, including some of these other authors mentioned.
Nate Wyckoff is an Orthodox Jewish husband and father of six lovely children. While he is conservative politically, his passion are Jewish issues, children’s issues, and Israel. He combined those passions into a fantastic children’s book that teaches children right from wrong in a fun way without being preachy. This book can be enjoyed by people of any religion, since the values espoused are as timeless as they are right. “Yaakov the Pirate Hunter” is a great read for children. Last but certainly not least is my mother’s favorite author. No, not Breitbart. Me. My books, “Ideological Bigotry,” “Ideological Violence” and “Ideological Idiocy,” are meant to make people laugh, and enrage and offend those who need and deserve to be enraged and offended. Political books tend to have that effect. Yet as a conservative, my approach is not stuffed shirt Republicanism. Buyers of these books will be educated and entertained.
My mother has even proclaimed that while her son is totally unbalanced, thanks to my books her coffee table is now balanced perfectly. How she knows this is not something she will discuss.
Those who purchase my books online will receive unsigned copies. While there is debate on whether my signature raises or lowers the value of the books, those who contact me directly through the Washington Times Communities and purchase my books will receive signed copies. We are not talking indecipherable hieroglyphics. Sincere, real inscriptions are included. Those who purchase all three books will receive three separate inscriptions.
For those who do not have conservative family or friends, buy these books for a liberal. They may learn something, and will at least enjoy burning the books in effigy. Liberals, buy these books for your conservative loved ones.
Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, happy 2013, and happy reading to you all. May you have a safe and sane holiday at home with a good book or several written by these fine authors.
