LOS ANGELES, August 13, 2012 — When Governor Mitt Romney chose Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate, Democrats dutifully did their jobs and claimed victory. Mr. Ryan, the extreme right-wing ideologue, would be a boon to President Obama. Behind the cameras, Democrats curled up in the fetal position in sheer panic.
Barack Obama is a man with a superiority complex. Paul Ryan is superior to him in every way. Mr. Obama is an angry individual who blames everybody else around him for his circumstances. Mr. Ryan offers a positive agenda for he future.
Democrats will focus on Ryan’s proposed entitlement reforms in an attempt to demonize him. They will lose this fight because Ryan is smarter than they are. Mr. Obama’s “intelligence” is held up by his water-carriers who secretly know he is a mediocre intellect without much knowledge of policy. He is no Bill Clinton, who waded deep into the weeds of major policy issues. Mr. Obama prefers to outsource the hard work and analysis and then show up for the signing ceremony. When Obama tried to take on Ryan early in his presidency, it was Ryan who showed Obama to be the lightweight.
Democrats win when the discussion turns to personalities. Republicans win when the debates are about policy. Democrats are left to call names, attempting to brand every conservative as either “evil” or “stupid.” Mr. Ryan is likable and brilliant. He is an intellectual Republican elephant who dominates his critics on the issues.
Democrats have already portrayed Ryan as a murderer who will throw grandma off the Medicare cliff. Yet Ryan knows how to take financial issues that most Republicans cower from and make the case for action based on moral imperatives.
Democrats claim that Ryan’s plans are evil. He counters that the Democrats have no counter-plan. The left will demonize what Ryan stands for, but he stands for something, they stand for nothing, and both sides know it. Doing nothing is no longer an option.
The entire rationale for the Obama presidency is the unverifiable claim that without him, things would have been worse. His apparatchiks bray that we “cannot go back to the failed policies of the past that got us in this mess.” That meaningless slogan has zero basis in fact. Republicans know this, but most of them cannot articulate why. Mr. Ryan can.
George W. Bush cut taxes in 2001 and 2003. The financial crisis, which was rooted in the collapse of the housing bubble and not in federal deficits, happened in 2008. Those are completely unrelated events, and Obama knows it as his plan (strongly supported by liberal economists) to fix the mess by expanding the deficit makes clear. President Bush’s tax cuts created an economic boom from 2002 through 2007. Even the sainted Bill Clinton saw his economy crash in 2000 (due to another collapsed bubble), although liberals tout the strong growth from 1994 through 1999. The Bush tax cuts were successful, because supply-side economics works.
Liberals will use words like “extremist,” “draconian,” “mean-spirited,” “cutting,” and “gutting” in an attempt to deflect from the failed Obama economy. Mr. Ryan knows how to explain the difference between an actual “cut” and merely “slowing the rate of growth.”
Addressing the notion that Obama saved the world, Ryan is able to explain that the real hard choices were made before Obama ever took office. While many on the right disagreed with the steps taken by President Bush and Hank Paulson, they did something that was embraced by Obama (TARP) and is touted by his administration as a huge success - their success. President Obama pushed a failed stimulus plan that prevented a recovery. The Bush supply-side approach worked. The Obma Keynesian approach failed.
To understand why budgetary battles are an intellectual and ideological mismatch, consider the top surrogates on both sides. Mr. Ryan has what Americans would call “qualifications.” He knows what he is talking about because he has actually done the real work few people show an interest in doing with regards to the dry subject of economics. He graduated from Miami (Ohio) University double-majoring with a B.A. in economics and political science. He has worked at Empower America and is a direct descendant of the Milton Friedman-Jack Kemp tree of economics. He is currently the Chairman of the House Budget Committee.
Despite having the entire world at his disposal, the best President Obama could offer America was the underwhelming technocrat Timothy Geithner. Geithner and Ryan politely sparred on the Obama administration’s smoke and mirror budgeting gimmicks, and Ryan cleaned Geithner’s clock.
In addition to not understanding Turbotax, Geithner revealed the entire Obama administration mindset with one comment.
“We are not coming before you today to say we have a definitive solution to that long term problem. What we do know is we don’t like yours.”
Mr. Geithner was not “taken out context.” The video link shows the entire train wreck in its full context. On issue after issue, Ryan understands and articulates economic problems and offers real solutions. The Obama response is to slash and burn political opponents with the machete that should be reserved for the budget.
President Obama has a “too cool for school” attitude, while Congressman Ryan shows an ability to learn complex subjects and teach them. They both communicate well, but Ryan knows what he is talking about. While Obama was getting stoned with the Choom Gang, Ryan was spending his time in school studying complex economic issues.
Paul Ryan is significantly smarter than Barack Obama, and he communicates just as effectively in a likable manner. All of the liberal attack ads in the world will not change the fact that Barack Obama cannot match Paul Ryan on any economic policy issue that requires insight, knowledge, or complex understanding. Mr. Ryan is Cicero. Mr. Obama is Nero, fiddling while the economy burns.
That is why the left will try and fail to destroy Paul Ryan. That is why Obama and his acolytes are in a state of sheer panic. Mr. Obama has not developed an inferiority complex, because his ego disallows that. Nevertheless, compared to Ryan, Obama is inferior. Everyone but Obama knows this.
