WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2013 —All the coaches on “The Voice” have their 12 team members and the battle rounds have begun. There will be four televised battle rounds on Mondays from 8 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 10 p.m. for the next two weeks.
The battle rounds are where teammates go head-to-head in a vocal duel with one being eliminated on the spot. Battle round losers still have a chance if one of the other coaches steal them. Each coach has two steals during the battle round.
In last night’s battle round Blake Shelton was the first judge to use both of his steals. Some may think this was rash of Shelton, but the country star is on a three-season winning streak that proves he has an eye for talent.
This probably means we will see a lot of good-natured banter between the other three judges conspiring to take Shelton down. But this is easier said than done since competitors are aware of Shelton’s winning track record. Given a choice between judges, desirable contestants will almost always pick Shelton as their coach.
Regardless of who wins in the end, we love “The Voice” because the judges are the perfect blend of personalities for a competitive reality show. They are all confident without being cocky and witty without being disrespectful.
Join our live online chat tonight at 9 p.m. for the second battle round and see if Shelton is on his way to his fourth straight winning season.
