LOS ANGELES, February 4, 2013 – Last week brought the blockbuster first two episodes of the second season of “Dallas.” It began with a tribute to the dearly departed Larry Hagman, and continued with what J.R. Ewing will at some point call his “final masterpiece.”
Christopher and Elena were a couple, and J.R. was teaching John Ross every dirty trick in the book to take away their company and undermine them. Rebecca revealed herself to be Pamela Rebecca Barnes, the daughter of family enemy Cliff Barnes.
Sue Ellen lost her race for Texas Governor amid scandal, and J.R. showed some decency by saving her from an indictment.
John Ross got the real Rebecca Sutter to lie on the witness stand so that Pamela could defeat Christopher in the annulment hearing and clean him out in a messy divorce. Yet by the end of the episode Christopher flipped Rebecca back with threats of jail. John Ross began the season by bedding down a stranger and using sexual blackmail to get a business deal done. Daddy J.R. was mighty pleased about that one.
By the end of the episode, John Ross and Pamela were all over each other, motivated by mutual desire for revenge. Out of jealousy, Cliff’s henchman Frank Ashkani sought to undermine Pamela by sending Christopher evidence that she killed Tommy Sutter.
A subplot had Bobby and Annie Ewing meet the daughter Annie thought had died. Daughter Emma rejected Annie. Her father Harris Ryland and his mother had taken the young child away from Annie and spirited her off to Europe. The child grew up thinking her mother was a monster. Bobby is trying to get to the truth to help heal Annie.
As for what happens next, as J.R. would say, “Stay tuned, darling.”
