WASHINGTON, February 26, 2013 —Just when you thought the attention-starved Kate Gosselin had slipped into obscurity, she pops up in yet another questionable reality show.
Tonight the domineering mom swaps places with former Playboy Magazine cover girl Kendra Wilkinson on Celebrity Wife Swap.
Kate Gosselin is well known for her rigidly structured child-rearing philosophy, a fact that makes swapping with a former girlfriend of Hugh Heffner a potential recipe for disaster. Kendra Wilkinson is the polar opposite of Gosselin, preferring a laid back approach to child rearing, and to life in general.
I understand that Gosselin has to make a living, but treating her children like a commodity is inexcusable. Any semblance of normalcy for the children was surrendered long ago. This latest stunt is sure to lead all of them to the therapist’s couch at some point in their over-exposed young lives.
According to inside sources, the children were frightened and confused, having no idea who their surrogate mom was, or why they were left alone with her to be filmed by strangers. In addition, they were instructed by their mom not to speak a word about it to anyone. I think it is safe to say Kate Gosselin will not be nominated for mom of the year any time soon.
After her sad performance on Dancing With the Stars, and this incredibly irresponsible choice to drop a stranger into her children’s lives for a week, what is next for Gosselin: a guest appearance on Buckwild?
Go home and raise your children, Kate. Check that Texas-sized ego at the door and focus on your children before you send them down the well-worn path of former child stars gone bad. You have traumatized them enough.
