WASHINGTON, October 30, 2012 – As Sandy sheds her tropical skin and assaults the Appalachian Mountains, she leaves behind almost 9 million souls without power.
Communities hearts and prayers go out to those who have suffered at the hands of Sandy. Meanwhile, here in the mountains, as the snow and wind make winter’s presence known, the smell of wood smoke and the reassuring calls of friends and relatives reminds me, yet again, how lucky we are to live here.
Wherever you live in this country, take comfort in the bravery and dedication of our first responders. Where would we be without them?
