SAN DIEGO, October 22, 2012 – Yet another switcheroo in the process during the All-Star season Dancing With The Stars this week.

It’s the first week of team dances added in, so every couple performs two routines. The judges will see them all one night – but the fans will see them split across two nights. Fans can vote both on Monday AND Tuesday nights. But no one goes home this week; we wait until next week for another round of dancing and the dreaded double elimination. Votes from this week will be added to next week’s votes along with the judges’ scores to determine who goes home.

Confused yet?

Four couples dance individual routines, followed by the remaining four couples performing their team dance Monday night. We’ll see this first round of dancing live as usual tonight.

After the show we see on the air, dancing will continue with the team couples dancing their individual routines, and the first four couples ending the night with their team dance. This second round will be taped for us to view on Tuesday, as if it’s live. This way, the judges get to see and judge everyone together, without a break, to ensure a fairer shake. On the west coast, we’re accustomed to seeing the show taped, but most of the country enjoys the thrill of seeing it live. Will it diminish your enjoyment of the show? The voting and the ratings may tell the story.

About the voting, we really shouldn’t vote until we see all the performances. So why is voting open Monday night? This part makes little sense to me.

The theme for the individual dances is “Guilty Pleasures.” Some are far guiltier than others. Here’s the rundown for both nights:

Monday night’s lineup:

Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy – Dancing 1st

UPDATE: Late Sunday, Melissa Rycroft was taken to a Los Angeles hospital after injuring her head and neck during the camera blocking session for the group dance. No word yet on her condition or whether she will perform this weke.

“Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars” airs tonight, October 22, at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC; and again with a second performance night on Tuesday, October 23, at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
