I love friday night. It's perfect for kicking back and watching good small screen viewing! Police drama, competition, and scandals headline tonight's prime time viewing.

WASHINGTON, October 19, 2012While some people head for bright lights of the city night, I love friday nights for the chance to kick back and bask in the glow of the television with some favorite snacks.

Tonigh it’s a night of silly things people do, mystery, drama and competition.

8:00PM: Shark Tank starts the evening off. Its amazing what people will think they can build! Then we have baseball playoffs, Ed Asner on Hawaii 5-0, and one of my favorite hours, Grimm on NBC, even in repeat.

ABC: Shark Tank: This series features a panel of entrepreneurs and business executives called “Sharks” who consider offers from other entrepreneurs seeking investments for their business or product. In this new episode, among tonight’s participants is NFL player Brandon Jacobs, who helps a New Jersey woman pitch her protein-infused energy drink.

CW: America’s Next Top Model: College Edition: The models are sent job hunting, and the photo shoot has a jailhouse theme.

9:00PM: There is something intriguing about second guessing what people will do.  Drama and moral dilemmas in this hour.

ABC: What Would You Do? This show uses a hidden camera to explore how people react to difficult situations.

CBS: CSI: New York: This detective procedural follows a group of forensic scientists and police officers as they investigate crimes. In this new episode Lindsay (Anna Belknap) is injured when a shooter attempts to kill a political candidate.

NBC: Grimm: In this new episode Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russel Hornsby) investigate the murder of a high-school athlete.

CW: Nikita: This series follows the adventures of a woman who escaped from a secret government-funded organization known as Division and, after a three-year hiding period, is back to bring down the organization. The third season starts with Ryan (Noah Bean) and Nikita (Maggie Q) taking charge of Division.

10:00PM: Investigative reporting and police drama in this hour.

ABC: 20/20: In this new episode one of the key witnesses in the Penn State/Sandusky scandal is interviewed. Also: the 2010 attempted murder of a San Diego day-care worker; the case of Raymond Roth, a New York man accused of faking his own death; celebrity look-alikes.

CBS: Blue Bloods: The series follows the Irish-American Reagan family of police officers with the New York City Police Department.(NYPD). In this new episode Danny (Donnie Walberg) and Jackie (Jennifer Esposito) are assigned to protect a Central American president.

I was born and educated in Southwest Virginia, traveled with my job all over America in my twenties and early thirties then came back to the mountains to raise my daughter.

I’ve been employed as everything from a quality control technician in industrial construction, to a mail processing plant manager, to postmaster of a small town. I’ve been to forty nine of the fifty states, as well as many other countries. Traveling will always be a passion I indulge, and something I’ll call upon often in my writing.

I come from a long line of story tellers, and will shamelessly exploit a family tree resplendent with colorful and unique characters, both past and present.

In short my perspective will reflect the pride and familiarity I have of my Appalachian heritage. My stories will be a reflection of the values I believe we hold dearest here, all embellished with a healthy dose of Southern Appalachian flare.
