Zorpia social network employs visual approach to connecting online

HONG KONG, August 28, 2013  —  When University of Illinois computer science graduate Jeffrey Ng founded Zorpia in 2003, he envisioned an “online nation for people looking for new relationships.” Ten years later, his dream has developed into an internationally embraced social networking platform with 29 million registered users (between one and two million of which are active monthly) from around the globe. 

Rigorous testing and iterative improvement based on customer behavior and feedback have enabled Zorpia’s management team to grow it into a robust and powerful network that is easy to use, fast and fun. 

One of the biggest areas of recent investment has been the network’s profile module. “The idea behind Zorpia’s new user profile is to provide users with a more visual approach in locating new friends,” said Paul Pausquier, Zorpia’s product manager, in a recent release. He continued that “The primary profile photos are larger and more visible with users and other photos scattered below.” 

Having achieved profitability in December of 2012, Zorpia’s new interface is more aesthetically pleasing and interactive than ever before. You get to see much more of a particular user at a glance via its key feature that permits display of several profile photos instead of just one. This feature easily distinguishes Zorpia from social media stalwarts such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. 

Speaking of the competition, sanctions levied on several of the larger and better-known networks in countries such as China and India have provided Zorpia with a strategic advantage that has allowed it to rapidly grow its user base and market share at the expense of its peers in recent years. 

Zorpia’s focus on providing a premier user profile experience is backed by a great deal of research and findings clearly indicating that profiles are of great interest and utility to users. In fact, since its latest upgrade, Zorpia has realized a 76% increase in user profile page views, a 197% increase in the number of profile messages sent and a whopping 356% increase in the number of users who utilize the profile message feature. 

Determined to continue pushing the envelope of innovation, the Zorpia management team has a laundry list of innovative new functionalities on the implementation horizon. One is a complete rewrite of their private message feature that allows users to chat in real time via Zorpia’s messaging module.   

The product has also moved into the mobile space with an Android mobile app that is also being revamped and a new iOS mobile app that will soon make its debut. One other popular existing feature is Zorpia’s ability to display high-resolution photos of members in your area that you could meet without even having to perform a search. Currently, locales such as Washington, D.C. easily boast thousands of Zorpia users that a person in that area could conceivably meet. 

Zorpia is fast joining the ranks of major market companies focused on the areas of social media and aggregating contacts. Its management team’s relentless attention to detail and its focus on maximizing the customer experience definitely make it a company to watch as the enterprise continues to expand and grow.
