Special Parents, Special Kids

Judy Solomon grew up in Milwaukee, WI where she met her husband, John, and gave birth to her son Joshua. For the last 18 years, she has worked to help her son overcome multiple challenges including autism, hydrocephalus and a variety of physical and mental disabilities. Josh was originally diagnosed as so severely diabled that it was not expected he would talk or walk. Eighteen years later, Josh is an active, verbal and happy-go-lucky young man who inspires many in his community in the Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. Judy has spent much of the last two decades volunteering to help other parents and children cope with special needs. She has espoused a simple philosophy for embracing the life of a family with special needs, "Celebrate the little things."
