WASHINGTON, AUGUST 14, 2013  There are so many social media sites now-a-days, it’s hard to keep up. While most people are focusing on the larger ones, maybe it’s time you and your company break away from the everyday types and take a look at some that may also benefit you.

Becoming increasingly popular over time, Quora is a social media site that provides answers to almost any question the world may have. It’s a great site to use for those looking for answers, and marketers who can use it to their benefit. You can use it to ask questions about your industry to help gain insight and create ideas. And you can also use it to answer questions about your industry to help portray yourself as a leader! In your answers you can provide links to your blogs or website.

Meetup

This is a great site to utilize for networking and promotional events. Meetup gives you the tools to host or attend any sort of event that may be beneficial to your company. It’s also really useful for gaining insight on what other companies are doing all around the country. Not to mention, it’s a great way to connect with your local community.

I know WebpageFX, an internet marketing company, holds monthly get-togethers for local community members with websites to ask questions and learn a thing or two about managing their websites.

Gentlemint

Every marketer knows what a great resource Pinterest can be for spreading awareness about your brand or product… to woman. Here’s a great site to gain awareness with men! Catered to men, Gentlemint is a great place to promote to your male target audiences. By sharing links and products you’ll gain more traffic to your site.

It’s also a great way to gain insight into what they are looking for and the best ways to market to them.

Houzz

This is great site to start using for any home improvement companies, interior designers or builders. Companies like Empire Cat Construction use it all the time to promote themselves.

You can share your own pictures, get inspired by others and share your products with your target audiences. You can also establish yourself by answering questions in the forms sections. It’s a great way to increase traffic to your site and gain leads.

The key here is becoming as active as you can.

There are numerous social media sites outside of the main stream that could benefit your business. Becoming active on niche specific sites is important because you are automatically appealing to your target audience because they are the only ones on there!

Facebook and Twitter are important, but are very broad when it comes to specific targeting. Be sure to find out what sites are out there, and use them to the best of your ability!
