MIAMI, Fla., April 6, 2012 — From causing the dreaded Roid Rage to building herculean physiques and strength, the effects of testosterone on the body are enormous. With testosterone replacement becoming more acceptable, in main stream media a new label has been forged with the tag line, “A Prescription for Passion.” With its ability to treat a fizzling libido and shrinking sex drive, not only men but also women are jumping on the testosterone band wagon to regain their mojo and a better quality of life.
Detecting low testosterone levels in men is easy. Low energy, poor sexual desire, increased fat and decreased muscle mass all scream “CHECK MY TESTOTREONE LEVELS NOW!” But with women it is a tad trickier.
On the average, only 50% of the testosterone a women has at age 20 remains at age 40. This gradual decrease in testosterone in women is not noticed until menopause begins and estrogen levels sink, leaving a lacking desire for companionship and sexual gratification.
Replacing testosterone levels in women is also a more delicate process than replacing it in men. A blood test will gauge the current testosterone level and help determine where the starting replacement dosage should begin. A physician should begin at the lowest dose possible and increase it slowly until the deficiencies are corrected without any negative side effects, like facial hair growth or acne, appearing.
Estrogen replacement can be used in conjunction with testosterone replacement, but must be monitored with blood tests and routine check ups by a qualified physician.
So, ladies, the phrase “I’m just not in the Mood” is no longer medically justified. Take control of your quality of life both inside and outside of the bedroom and start to remember and enjoy the simple things in life.
