Barack Obama's empty 5 percent salary gesture

CHARLOTTE, NC, April 10, 2013 — Barack Obama and some of his colleagues from both parties have once again shown how far removed they are from the plight of their constituents: They’re sharing our pain with a 5 percent salary give-back.

They say the grand symbolic gesture is a way to show their commitment and solidarity to the American people.

In fact, they are insulting the hard working citizens of the United States who struggle daily to make ends meet.

The presidential salary is $400,000 a year, plus a $50,000 annual expense account, a nontaxable travel account of $100,000 and a $19,000 entertainment allowance. That’s a grand total of $669,000 a year, which does not even approach the president’s total compensation.

The perks of the job are stunning. The president has housing (the White House) that comes with a tennis court, a bowling alley, a theater, a jogging track and a swimming pool. He has an expansive, 128-acre vacation retreat (Camp David), five full-time chefs with 24-hour service, a pastry chef, and even a chocolatier at his beck and call. There are event planners, an in-house floral department, calligraphers to write his invitations, and military bands to play at his parties. He travels in a Marine helicopter and a 747 jet wherever and whenever he wants, and when he flies, he’s accompanied by two C-5 Galaxy aircraft that bring his limousines and a special ambulence.

Throw in security, the finest healthcare, and a generous retirement package, and the president’s total compensation package is worthk millions.

Five percent of $400,000 amounts to $20,000. That would be a sizeable sum for the average American, but don’t forget, that is only the president’s salary. It bears no relationship to the perks of his office.

Considering the added goodies congressmen and senators receive, their gesture is equally ridiculous. There is no rational, logical scenario for the typical American to compare their lifestyles to that of an elected politician.

For us, a few extra jobs would be nice. They would pay some bills and put food on the table. Providing those would certainly help more than refusing five percent of a salary that comes from tax payers’ pockets and does nothing to alleviate our problems.

There was a gala, star-studded, soul music event at the White House this week. Justin Timberlake and Queen Latifah were among the many celebrities who entertained to first family. Do we really and truly believe that single event alone fell within the $19,000 presidential entertainment allowance?

Earlier in the day, First Lady Michelle Obama, who is her husband’s equal in every way when it comes to humility, told a group of children, “When I was young I played the piano, now as I try to remind my kids I regret the fact that I didn’t keep it up. I try to tell them that every single day.”

Every day that is when the girls aren’t spending tax payer money for fancy spring break vacations in the Bahamas and luxurious ski resorts. We get it Michelle, you tell them to keep practicing their music every day when they are in town.

In fact, the Obamas are actually extremely musically inclined. They are experts at fiddling while the country and the world burns. It’s a little lesson they learned from another emperor when Rome was in power.

In demonstrating their knowledge of the history of Memphis Soul, the Obamas continued their keen emphasis on education, particularly in the field of history. Education has been a keystone of Barack’s presidency. He is known for his oratorical skills, but since the beginning of the year, he and his family have provided numerous examples of leading by example rather than words.

While school children from all over the United States are denied access to White House tours, the Obamas have vacationed in Hawaii, taken two ski trips, played golf with Tiger Woods and had a command performance of Memphis Soul Music at the White House.

Where is the history you ask? It is called “Marie Antoinette Syndrome” whereby the former Queen of France said to the peasants, “Let them eat cake.” There is, by the way, no historical record of Ms. Antoinette refusing five percent of her salary, but that serves only to further emphasize the generosity of our beloved president.

We have added $7 trillion of new debt since Obama took office, but at the very least we now know the historical significance of Memphis Soul.

Through new middle-class taxes and far-reaching spending by the president’s administration, Barack Obama has shown himself as an an economic terrorist.

No single event can define the lack of compassion, class and dignity of Barack Obama and the first family. Bill Clinton at least “felt our pain.” Barack Obama inflicts it.

The history lesson? No chief executive has ever had more contempt and disdain for the people he serves than Barack Obama.

Taken in the aggregate our current president is far and away the most self-serving, arrogant, narcissistic, deceitful, hypocritical phony who has ever occupied the White House. And that’s a compliment.
