Intro to modern fencing: watch our girl beat Russia.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009 - To The Point by Ilya Lobanenkov

This is the second half of the bronze medal match between Rebecca Ward of the US and Sofia Velikaya of Russia. Basically, if a red light goes off US hit, if a green light goes off, Russia hit. The the referee has to award the point, and that is a matter of who was attacking. Don't worry if you can't follow the action all the time, just watch the incredible intensity of emotion during this battle and how these two move. Fencing well can make you feel like you can fly.
