NEW YORK, September 29, 2011 - On September 17, a group of individuals representing all ages, races, socio-economic backgrounds, and political persuasions took to the streets of New York City.
Their goal: To ‘move in’ and Occupy Wall Street, by flooding lower Manhattan with peaceful protesters, setting up beds, kitchens and peaceful demonstration outposts.
Their goal: To show that ‘We the 99% are fed up with the greed and corruption of the 1%.
Their fuel: the “New World Order”, corporations ruling and influencing government and the economy, bail outs and tax breaks for the 1%, ruinous government policy, and the corruption and unconstitional fraud of the Federal Reserve.
Using the “Arab Spring” revolutionary tactic of mass occupation and non violent demonstration, the individuals are looking to restore a balance of real democracy in this nation. At the least, they are looking to spread some of the information they expouse which is largely witheld from the general public due to the United States mainstream media taking a ‘mum’ approach to such delicate subject matter.
Major Media Black out and Celebrity Supporters
The event has been under an eerie, almost total major media blackout nationally. Local news, personal accounts, and home video cameras have been documenting the event so far.
Celebrities Michael Moore (filmaker) and Dr. Cornel West (intellectual, activist, and bestselling author) have been in attendance and addressed the crowds, along with hip hop artists Immortal Technique and Lupe Fiasco, who were there at the beginning of the demonstrations.
Immortal Technique spoke out against US government money borrowing policies, stating: “The majority of the population are getting nothing from those loans”.
He claimed that the revenue from the loans was being invested in ‘foreign firms,’ in countries where labor is cheaper. He also talked about the potential for democratically elected officials to become corrupted and influenced by wealthy lobbyists. “Once they get involved in politics, they come to rely on political contributions… you know that not everyone is going to vote, so you concentrate on fulfilling the needs of special interests.” These would constitute guaranteed voters in favour of the politician’s party.
Another protestor at a supporting event was quoted as saying, “Corporate interests seem to be controlling both parties - The ‘little man,’ the ‘American every man,’ just isn’t getting their voice heard. When you need $35,000 to donate to a campaign to get your voice heard, to have a meeting, that’s not democracy…”
Event marred by Documented Police Brutality
The ongoing protest, heavy at times, has needed significant police presence to maintain order and deal with snarled traffic. Numerous
arrests have occurred, and police have used excessive violence against people exercising their constitutional rights. Incidents of excessive force have been documented several times during the protests.
A video of a senior police officer dousing a defenseless, already partitioned-off group of people (mostly female) with pepper spray has gone viral and has drawn the ire of citizens around the world.
The “Occupy Wall Street” Model coming to other cities

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs.” - Thomas Jefferson , U.S. President
“The real truth of the matter is that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government since the days of Andrew Jackson “ –President Franklin D. Roosevelt
