LOS ANGELES, January 6, 2013 – Day two of the playoffs has the Colts battling the Ravens in the early game and the Seahawks facing the Redskins, bringing us ever closer to Super Bowl Sunday.
Don’t watch alone; have your favorite beverage and being its Sunday, prepare a nice spicy guacamole with chips and join Communities’ Eric Golub for the games.
GAME ONE
Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens (6.5): 1:00 pm EST.
Prediction: Ravens win but fail to cover
Play by Play:
The Colts are the inspirational story of the year as the entire team rallied around Chuck Pagano after his bout with lukemia. Yet the Ravens are the better team, and they are at home. Baltimore did go 1-4 down the stretch, but now they get emotional leader Ray Lewis back.
A healthy Ray Lewis changes everything, and his experience will triumph over rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. More importantly, Lewis just announced his retirement at the end of this season after 17 years as one of the greatest middle linebackers in NFL history. The Colts will make a game of it, but the Ravens will feed off the home crowd and get the job done.
Ray Rice will run hard, preventing Joe Flacco from having to do more than manage the game. The Colts are “Chuck Strong,” but the Ravens will win it for Lewis in his final home game.
The winner of this game will play @ the Denver Broncos next week.
GAME TWO
Seattle Washington Seahawks (2.5) at Washington Redskins: 4:30p.m. EST.
Predicition: Seahawks cover
Play by Play:
Rookies Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III have lit up the league. RGIII is not completely healthy from his leg injury, and Seattle has the better defense. Pete Carroll has seen his squad explode from a
7-5 team to 4 straight wins and 1/2 game short of the division crown and 1st round bye. Washington began 3-6 but Mike Shanahan has seen his team win 7 straight. Despite Washington being at home, Seattle has just been playing lights out defense in recent weeks. They should be able to get another win.
If the Redskins win, they are up against the San Francisco 49ers next week. If the Seahawks win, they face the Atlanta Falcons next week.
The Chat begins at 12:45 p.m. EST and we hope you will offer your own amr-chair comments and predictions.
