Has Hollywood found a new source for stories?

DENVER, Co., March 9, 2011 — Hollywood can only make so many old TV shows into movies.

The film industry may have a new source for its storytelling machine, and it's a pretty musty one at that.

This Friday, "Red Riding Hood" hits theaters. It's a hip retelling of the classic children's tale starring Amanda Seyfried as the girl who finds out that grandma has some sizable teeth.

The film's love triangle draws an obvious connection to the "Twilight" series, and "Hood's" youthful cast should be a hit with the 18-24 demographic. The film's only serious competition this weekend is "Battle: Los Angeles," an action fest sure to bring out the teen boy crowd.

That leaves those Twi-hard fans with an obvious choice for their entertainment dollar.

The fairy tale movie parade may have already begun. "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" is in production with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton in the lead roles.

If "Red Riding Hood" conquers both the big, bad wolf and the hearts and minds of movie goers, expect to see Humpty Dumpty and all his imaginary pals in theaters soon.
