CHICAGO, March 29, 2012— Nationally known political consultant, author, and progressive activist, Robert Creamer is a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to defrauding banks out of 2.3 million dollars in a check-kiting scheme along with violations of federal tax laws.
The crimes were committed in relation to running his failing non-profit organization, paying his salary, and keeping him in the manner to which he was accustomed.
Creamer is now leading a multi-million dollar non-profit group called Americans United for Change. The group is backed and financed by the usual progressive suspects, National Education Association, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Service Employees International Union, MoveOn.org, Occupy Wall Street and other progressive groups.
The purpose of this enterprise is to force so-called super PACs to disclose their donors. They are offering a $25,000.00 bounty to the first employee of a corporation who can prove their corporation secretly donated to a political non-profit organization during the 2012 campaign.
None of the media reports on this endeavor (Washington Post, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune e.g.) mentions that Creamer is a convicted financial felon. Facts and accuracy are irrelevant when it comes to a hero of the republic. He only ripped off banks.
Banks are enemies of the republic.
For his crimes, Creamer received and only served a five and one half month sentence in prison due to an understanding judge. Federal prosecutors were looking for a two to two and one half year sentence.
Upon his release, he was supposed to spend 11 months home confinement. A confinement so lenient he was allowed to travel to and from Washington D.C. to run his political consulting firm and visit his wife.
Robert Creamer is the spouse of vituperative Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. It was reported at the time of sentencing that the judge had a personal and political relationship with the congresswoman and her husband, which might explain what might be considered unusual leniency.
Which would not be unusual in Chicago. The Chicago political culture is full of personal and political relationships and judges, at all levels, are part of that culture.
Congresswoman Schakowsky is known for her vitriolic attacks on anyone who disagrees with her, the Democratic Party, or the progressive movement.
Her finest hour was at a town hall meeting where she shrieked at her own constituents, who opposed the health care law, calling them deplorable, disgusting, despicable, and detestable.
While in prison Robert Creamer wrote a book, How Progressives Can Win. Upon his release the Democratic Party and progressives hailed him as a hero of the republic. He went right back to work consulting with Democrats and progressives, writing columns, another book, and working in politics.
Robert Creamer is a member of the Chicago Democratic Machine, known as the Chicago Democratic (Crime) Family. He was a political consultant to recently imprisoned former governor Rod Blagojevich, former Mayor Richard M. Daley, and others.
He is a friend of political consultant David Axelrod, the former close advisor to President Obama, who is now advising the president’s campaign.
Creamer was also a mentor to former congressman, former Obama Chief of Staff and current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Mayor Emanuel started his political career working for one of Creamer’s non-profit organizations.
Of course, the groups supporting Americans United for Change, and Americans United for Change itself, are hiding behind the same non-disclosure they want to impose on others. Therein lies the brazen hypocrisy of progressives, the Democrats, and the left in general.
Don’t do as I do, do as I say. Reform now but don’t expect us to.
The progressives in the Democratic Party really want Creamer’s conviction hushed up. Whenever Creamer’s name appears in the media his conviction is never mentioned. Unlike others, who are described as ex-felons, ex-convicts, or corrupt officials, Creamer is merely a political consultant.
Fair, balanced or factually accurate reportage does not come into play with Robert Creamer. He is given a free pass.
Robert Creamer is a power player in Democratic and progressive circles. He is one of the go to guys, a man necessary to their causes. Robert Creamer must be protected at all costs.
He is a political architect and is very good at what he does.
How can a thief be so loved, venerated, and honored in the political arena and protected by the media? If you are a progressive the ends justify the means. Get the money anyway you can to win the fight anyway you can.
Robert Creamer is the poster boy for the hypocrisy permeating the progressive movement. They do not care about honesty, integrity, morals, or values. They just espouse them.
It’s pure lip service.
People should know who the power players are in politics. People should have all the facts, accurate facts, the best version of the truth, before they support, or in this age of social media, promote any group.
There should be full disclosure.
If former lobbyist (and Republican), Jack Abramoff, who is also a convicted felon, ran a non-profit political group, there would be screams and shouts from high heaven. If Scooter Libby (Republican), who is a convicted felon, ran a non-profit political entity there would be social media lynch mobs after him.
Robert Creamer (Democrat), convicted financial felon, a thief, gets a free pass from everyone, including the media.
A convicted financial felon is shaping the political narrative for the progressive movement and possibly the nation. Hypocrisy is the perfume of the progressive movement.
