“In an interview with the Boston Herald, Menino vowed to block the chain from opening up shop in his city, promising to make it extremely difficult for the company to procure the required licenses.
“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston,” Menino told the publication. “You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion.” (Chicago Tribune)
CHICAGO, July 23, 2012— Boston Mayor Thomas Menino(D) does not deserve to hold public office. He is the most un-American mayor of a quintessential American city.
He is a high practitioner of gangster politics, policy, and bigotry.
Mayor Menino does not believe the owners and officers of Chick-fil-A have a constitutional right to express their protected beliefs and own and operate a business in his town.
They have no right to donate money to who ever they want, even though that is constitutionally protected too.
It should be noted that the CEO of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, never once stated gays do not have the right to be employed or eat in his restaurants. He merely expressed his religious belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. He stated he and his company’s core values are based on Christian principles.
Those are mortal sins to the politically correct, palatable, and expedient Mayor Menino. You are not allowed to believe what you want, express those beliefs, and operate a business in Boston.
Mayor Menino will mount reprisals to punish Chick-fil-A. Unlike Menino, Cathy at least has scruples, values and principles.
Mayor Menino is violating the constitutional rights of Chick-fil-A in an egregious and hideous manner. Worse, he is violating the core principles of what this exceptional nation was built on, including independence from despotism and tyranny.
Menino belongs in some tin pot dictatorship where he can be the tyrant in chief. There he can decree what business owners must believe. He can run a totalitarian government to his power-mad heart’s content.
If Menino goes through with his threat, he and the city of Boston should be sued into bankruptcy. All its land and property should be seized and sold off.
Boston should cease to exist.
There is no credible proof Chick-fil-A ever violated any laws covering discrimination in hiring service, or equal opportunity. There is no credible proof they violate any laws period.
From all reports, Chick-fil-A exceeds in all areas of compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. It donates to local charities that benefit all people. It is a model business citizen.
Menino, on the other hand, wants to violate every single law and regulation regarding discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry. He wants to do this under the color of his office.
None of this should be surprising. Menino is also in favor of torture. Here is what Menino would do to three accused murderers, “I’d do some things that would be worse than the death penalty. Because it wouldn’t happen in a second. I would slowly torture them.’’
Menino does not believe in the United States Constitution or our laws. He is above all that. He is the law.
Menino, through his hostile threats, is openly and notoriously stating he will commit grotesque acts of discrimination. He dusted off the old and revered Democratic Party Jim Crow policy, giving it an innovative and sophisticated twist.
Worse, he will probably be allowed to get away with it.
What business or businesses will the gangster mayor of Boston attack or target next over other protected rights?
Menino loves the word tolerance. It excludes acceptance. Someone should inform the dictator that people in Boston risked their freedom and shed blood so we can all believe, express our beliefs, and live our values without fear of government reprisal or punishment. The Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, the battles of Bunker Hill, Lexington and Concord occurred in or near the town.
Hey, there’s an idea. There should be a Boston Menino Party. They could dress up as chickens and throw effigies of Menino into the harbor protesting his despotism.
If people do not want to patronize a Chick-fil-A or any other business for so-called moral, social, or whatever reasons that is their right. The consumer decides, rightly or wrongly. Despots and gangster politicians do not.
An elected official has no right to abuse his power to deny any business its equal opportunity to compete in the market place. Menino has no right, duty, privilege, or obligation to pick and choose who can open a business in Boston based on his narrow bigoted belief system. He is not a king. He does not own the city. He is merely allowed to manage it.
If Tom Menino does not want Chick-fil-A in Boston, so be it. Chick-fil-A can open stores on the periphery of Boston. Bostonians can take their money and eat there. Those towns can benefit from the jobs and tax windfall. Boston’s loss can be another’s treasure. Boston does not deserve any other business entity to operate as long as Menino is mayor.
Menino has assured America and Americans that we have no rights to free speech, free expression, and freedom of religious belief. Not if you want to own and operate a business in Boston, a city noted for American independence.
Inquiring minds want to know. Would Menino be so vociferous in his bigotry if Chick-fil-A or its officers donated big bucks to his political funds? Intelligent minds think not.
