Chicago is a city of scoundrels

My first concern was the well-being of not the constituents of the 2nd Congressional District, but the congressman,” Raoul said. “I think he’s obligated at some point to talk about if and when he will return to service, how whatever his condition is may impact his capacity to serve. Beyond that, getting into the nitty gritty of the condition and his treatment, I believe it’s private.” (State Sen. Kwame Raoul, D-Chicago/Chicago Tribune) Emphasis the author’s

CHICAGO, July 13, 2012 — You have just read the most important thing you need to know about Chicago politicians. The well being of the politician trumps the well being of constituents. Constituents do not count. Only their votes do.

Since the inception of Chicago and Cook County, the people never mattered.

Politics is not about the serving the people. It is all about the self-serving politicians. They put their interests first, last, and always over the constituents.

Yes, dear people, in Chicago, constituents are worthless. Only the well being of our iconic poltroon politicians is important. They must be hale, hardy and healthy to keep deceiving, conning, scamming, scheming and ripping off the public. They feast on a cornucopia of corruption until they are bloated balloon heads.

They are in a constant quest for more power and more money.

They feast on a cornucopia of corruption until they are bloated ‘balloon’ heads. They are in a constant quest for more power and more money.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of Chicagoans are low information voters. To put it bluntly, they are the stupid people politicians never under estimate. Chicagoans thoughtlessly vote for the same crooks, liars and thieves over and over again. Then those same voters have the temerity to complain about the political hi-jinks, shenanigans, crimes, and the constant rising taxes to fuel the kleptocracy.

Chicago politics thrives on a culture of corruption. The motto of Chicago is “gimme mine.” The logo is two cash filled fists. Chicago has been a city run by thieves since its inception. The politicians keep coming up with more sophisticated corrupt schemes to stay one step ahead of the law while consolidating power and creating wealth for themselves and their friends and families.

They only things that strike fear in their cold, hard, mercenary hearts are the ratcheting of handcuffs and the clang of a slamming cell door.

If you need evidence just look in the African American communities that have been represented by black politicians for decades. Politicians like Jesse Jackson Jr., Danny Davis, Monique Davis, Kwame Raoul, Bobby Rush, former Illinois State and United States Senator Barack Obama, and especially the many Black Aldermen.

They have done nothing to help their constituents.  They have done everything to keep them constantly dependent on government handouts and entitlements. It is called the Politics of Poverty. Keep em poor, keep em dependent, keep em voting. That is all that counts.

While they power lunch or wine and dine with the big money people downtown and on the North Side’s Gold Coast, their constituents live hopeless lives of multi-generational abject poverty. They have extremely high unemployment rates, bad schools, and live in neighborhoods that make Afghanistan look safe.

The only sustainable economy is the drug and other various criminal enterprises. Nothing has changed in forty years. People are never better off now than they were. In most cases they are worse off.

There are miles upon miles of vacant land and buildings that could be used to build manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, and assembly facilities; retail stores and other service businesses could be built. Menial, entry level, and good middle class union jobs could be created. Much of that land and buildings have been vacant since the late 1960s.

These politicians did nothing during their long careers to enable economic development in their communities. Not one thing. When their constituents had enough and complained or protested, the politicians conveniently blamed racism for their problems. It works every time.

Chicago is a city of scoundrels: scoundrel politicians who care nothing about the people they serve; scoundrel contractors who profit on cost overruns; scoundrel vendors who rip off the city by charging higher prices than retail; scoundrel wealthy donors who want to keep the scoundrel politicians in office for their own nefarious profitable purposes.

Much of the media is rather tame towards the scoundrel politicians. If the feds nail them the media may bite. But hard-hitting investigative reporting is basically dead. There are a few outlets that hold the politicians accountable. But those wily scoundrels have their tricks. A few well-placed calls to major advertisers claiming racism and calling for boycotts quell the flames of even the most ardent editors.

Make no mistake. Our scoundrel politicians are entertaining at times. For example, when allegations of coruption were made against one, he demanded to know who the “alligators” were.

Chicago is a city run by and represented by scoundrels. They do not represent or care about the people. They only take care of themselves. That is the way it has always been and will always be. It is the Chicago Way.

On a similar note, if the Chicago Sun Times practiced ethical, honest journalism they would have put this truthful disclaimer at the beginning or end of their article defending Jesse Jackson Jr.: “Reverend Jesse Jackson is a long time editorial columnist for the Chicago Sun Times. The Chicago Sun Times is a major supporter of Reverend Jackson and Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr.
