President Obama plays politics with the Supreme Court

CHICAGO, April 5, 2012— Many are asking what the President is thinking by targeting the Supreme Court this week. President Obama was not thinking. He was doing.

His challenging the court was a calculated planned campaign statement.

President Obama was doing what he and his political advisors know will help him win reelection: creating tension and conflict.

The accusation of judicial activism is a political term used to complain about Supreme Court decisions people do not agree with.

Judicial activism describes judicial rulings suspected of being based on personal or political considerations rather than on existing law.  Realistically, all Supreme Court decisions create disagreement and accusations of judicial activism.

Someone wins and someone loses in every decision the Supreme Court reaches. Ergo, just about every major case the Supreme Court decides is tainted by the accusation of judicial activism.

Claiming judicial activism is a device used to stain the reputation of the Court and cover the mistakes of the legislative and executive branch with don’t blame us, blame the court.

From slavery to abortion, property rights, criminal cases, environmental law, civil rights, affirmative action; you name it and each can be called judicial activism.

Judicial activism is nothing more than excuse abuse.

The politicians and special interests abuse the term for their own interests, political gain, and some times just for pure derision. No one likes to be told they are wrong, especially politicians. They have to blame someone. The Court is an easy target.

After all the political rhetoric is expended by activists and politicians, normalcy once again reigns. People and politicians abide by the rulings or they find loopholes in the rulings, avoid the issue, or make the necessary legislative or bureaucratic corrections.

The healthcare law will be no different. If it is struck down there will be attempts to make it constitutionally correct. If it is upheld there will be attempts to repeal or reform it. Life will go on, no harm, no foul.

If the decision goes against the legislation it will not be earth shattering or unprecedented. No one will be harmed. No one will suffer. If they rule in his favor, the president is validated.

Nothing really changes.

This presidency is only about one thing, making his-story. The president and his political minions will do everything in their power to see that his-story is made and it’s made their way. The chapters are already written. It is just a matter of which one will be used, the Court as judicial activist political hacks or the Court as sober mined intellectual thinkers.

Team Obama is fighting back before the decision is made so the President is put in the best light possible ahead of time. No matter which way the court rules, President Obama wins.

That is their theory.

The President’s political team is the best money can by. They are going to do everything possible to drive the narrative, control the message and discussion, and keep the president fighting.

Americans love a fight. Team Obama knows that. In order to fight you need enemies, the more the better.

Team Obama is surrounding the President with enemies so he can attack from all sides. First they went after the banks and Wall Street. Then wealthy people were targeted. They attacked Republicans, then they went after congress as a whole. Now it is the Supreme Court. When the GOP nominates its candidate they will go after him.

They will attack everyone in every direction. It makes it easier to create multiple distractions, tension, and conflict. It is exactly what they want.

This president has never stopped running for election. His reelection campaign started the day he won the election, maybe even before.

The White House staff is not a policy staff. It is a pure political operation. Every single thing the President does is part of a well designed calculated strategy. Think about this. Has he ever walked back any controversial statement he or a member of his administration made? Has he ever come out and said he made a policy mistake?

The President and his staff know the more enemies he creates the better he looks. The Supreme Court is just another item on their punch list. His-story must march on.

Team Obama is going to dominate the electoral landscape with their messaging and narratives. They forcibly will control the discussions and conversations.

Team Obama is primed and prepared.

This administration has an answer to shame any critic or media outlet who dares ask the hard questions, criticize the administration, or any of its policies and statements. They have a ready-made excuse to blame others for anything.

Team Obama designed contingency plans to refute, deny, or counter-punch any attack.

This is by design. It is a good design. It is an effective plan. Pity that the White House is more concerned about politics than policy or people. It is a shame all that talent is being wasted on his-story instead of our nation. It is a dishonor that they would put politics and his-story above the country.

But these people have no shame or honor. They have only one well defined burning desire. They will win the election at any cost. They do not care who suffers, who is denigrated or dehumanized. They do not care how many bridges they burn or political bodies they leave in their wake. They are running a scorched and salted earth campaign.

Anyone who wants to go into politics or political campaigning should study Team Obama. This is a playbook that will be historic.
