WASHINGTON, September 15, 2013 — Fairfax County police said in a news release that 16-year-old Gerard Gomez was killed early Sunday morning outside the Marriott Residence Inn at 8616 Westwood Center Drive in Vienna, Virginia.
According to the news release, police arrived at the Residence Inn at approximately 2am in response to a report that someone had been shot. They found Gomez on the sidewalk in front of the hotel with injuries to his upper body.
According to his Facebook page, Gomez was a junior at Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia and worked at Vocelli Pizza. Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene after Police and Emergency Medical personnel attempted to revive him.
WJLA reports that witnesses said there was a party at the hotel before the shooting. The witness said he heard a single shot and called police.
Another witness told WNEW that there were a large number of people in the parking lot at the Residence Inn and reported that there were fights in the parking lot.
