Alexandria hosting USA track and field runners in road race

WASHINGTON, November 7, 2013 — For those suffering running withdrawal after crossing the finish line of last month’s New York Marathon or Marine Corps Marathon, the city of Alexandria has you covered.

There are only 10 days left to register for the .US National Road Racing Championships. The event, which will include USA Track & Field members, regional road racers, fitness enthusiasts, and professional runners, offers five different races. Runners can choose from the 12km Elite Championship Race, USA Masters 12km, 12km Community Race, Nationwide Insurance 5km, or ½ mile Kids’ Fun Run.

As the final event on USATF’s USA Running schedule, the championships features a total prize amount of $100,000. There will also be specially designed medals for all racers, a beer garden, and a USATF merchandise truck with limited edition Nike gear.
