WASHINGTON, DC, November 8, 2013 — Applebee’s and veterans are two words not usually associated with one another.

But for the fifth year, Applebee’s across the area will be helping veterans in the biggest way they know how: free meals.

On Nov 11, anyone with valid proof of service will receive a free meal at their neighborhood Applebee’s ranging from burgers to steaks to shrimp and salads. For the past four years, Applebee’s has served an average of 1 million veterans and active duty military members per year as a way of saying thank you. This year, the restaurant hopes to continue the trend.

In addition, Applebee’s will announce on Veterans Day the Most Thankful Neighborhood in America; the neighborhood that has done the most to thank its military members through the restaurant’s Thank You Movement. The Applebee’s restaurant that has received the most personal thank you messages will win a Gavin DeGraw concert in its city. The Thank You Movement has already collected 4.5 million personal Thank You notes from its website, Facebook page, and Twitter account since 2011.
