SAN DIEGO – April 1, 2013 – The producers of “Dancing With The Stars” love their theme nights. In the first few seasons, we had obvious themes like Latin Night. In more recent seasons, the producers have tried to get more creative. On occasion, the themes have done a serious crash and burn.

This week, someone must have looked at the calendar and notice it was April Fool’s Day on Monday. It’s the only possible explanation for the theme: Prom Night.

ABC is even inviting the viewers to help select the Prom King and Queen of the night via Twitter by posting the hashtag #prom and the first name of the competitor. For example, #promandy or #promwynonna. The winners of the Twitter based hashtag votes will be “named” Prom King and Queen and receive two bonus points for the night. It may make a difference to the couples in danger of elimination.

With the untimely departure due to injury of Dorothy Hamill and Tristan McManus as the first couple to leave, Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold and Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko were the two couples in danger before Hamill announced she would withdraw. These two need to make the most of their reprieve this week.

We will see a variety of dances this week: three couples dance the Viennese Waltz; we have a variety of Latin dances included the Cha Cha Cha and the first salsa, samba, rumba and Paso Doble of the season, one more jive and one more contemporary dance.

Watch with us on Communities and join in our Live Chat starting at 8 p.m. ET, then vote via phone, text message, online on the official Dancing With The Stars page on Facebook,  or online at the ABC Dancing With The Stars page.

And don’t forget to vote for Prom King and Prom Queen. Wouldn’t Andy Dick make the perfect Prom King?
