The title of this week’s episode is the title of a song considered the official song of House Lannister. It tells of the Lannister victory led by Tywin Lannister over the House Reyne of Castamere. House Reyne was destroyed, and the song is a reminder to everyone in Westeros that the Lannisters will destroy anyone who crosses them or stands in the way of what they want.
Who should heed this warning? Pehaps Robb Stark, who is bearing down on Casterly Rock to take on the Lannisters. Tywin Lannister and the rest of the family are in King’s Landing where the wedding of Tyrion to Sansa Stark has just taken place. Will Robb find the Lannisters’ home an easier than expected target – or perhaps a trap waiting?
Meanwhile, Robb’s younger brothers Bran and Rickon have made it to the Wall with Jojen Reen, just in time for their bastard brother Jon Snow to begin his assault on the Night’s Watch. He’s proven willing to kill his former allies to hide the fact he’s playing both ends. In this assult, he may have to kill many more of them to prove himself loyal to Mance Rayder and the wildlings.
Arya Stark and Sandor Cleghorn, The Hound, continue on to Riverrun, although they don’t know Robb Stark isn’t there. Neither has managed to kill the other yet, but will their uneasy partnership survive?
The character who seems most eager of all for confrontation is the Mother of Dragons, Danaerys Targaryen. She wants to add the city of Yunkai to her list of conquered former slave states. Now it seems she will have the handsome Daario by her side, after he killed his fellow leaders of the Second Sons when they disagreed over forming an alliance with her. Daario and Danaerys seem to have a little more personal alliance in mind.
What does the Red Priestess Melisandre intend to do with all the royal blood she took by force from Gendry? This could post the gravest danger of all to anyone who she considers an enemy. Can anyone stop her at this point?
