LIVE CHAT HBO’s Game of Thrones: “Kissed by Fire,” Sunday, 9 p.m. ET

SAN DIEGO, April 28, 2013 – Fans were treated to a spectacular finish last week on Season 3 of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

Danaerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, showed that she is no one to be underestimated as her dragon turned the city of Astapor to ashes. She took possession of 8,000 Unsullied soldiers, then immediately freed them, and asked them to volunteer to fight for her and help her regain the Iron Throne. All of them rewarded her courage and generosity by agreeing to follow her, willingly.

So you may be wondering why Episode 5 of Season 3 is titled  “Kissed By Fire,” since we witnessed plenty of fire last week. It is more a symbolic meaning as applied to this week’s episode. “Kissed by Fire” is a phrase used by the Wildlings to describe people who are redhaired. To be “kissed by fire” is considered to be blessed with good luck. Recall that Ygritte, Jon Snow’s captor and now lover, is a redhead. But so is the priestess Melisandre.

Fire will factor into the trial by combat of Sandor Clegane, who will face Brotherhood without Banners leader Beric Dondarrion. Recall that Clegane, “The Hound,” has an intense fear of fire. How will the Gods judge The Hound?

Jaime Lannister is brought before Lord Volten of the Boltons, holding he and Brienne captive. Will Jaime and Brienne treated with humanity, or cruelty?

Jon Snow is also judged as to whether he is truly loyal to Mance Rayder, and will be sent on a dangerous mission to prove himself.

Tyrion and Cersei Lannister learn from their father, Lord Tywin, that Lady Olenna Tyrell is planning to marry off Sansa Stark to her grandson, Loras. So will there now be a double wedding between Sansa and Loras along with King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell? You can bet there will be plenty of twists and turns on the way to the altar for these couples. And as the man in charge of the kingdom’s treasury, Tyrion learns that royal weddings are very, very expensive.
