NORTHFIELD, Minn. (4/13/2011) – A digital native I am not. Getting into the digital world happened ‘almost accidently.’ After retiring from the University of Minnesota I brought home electronic files and paper files. The paper sits in a box in my storage room. My electronic files are now accessible around the world.
How did this get started?
Knowing just enough to be dangerous, I launched my own web-site. I began with analysis of what web-sites supplied content and where gaps existed in my field. Then, I built pages casting my academic and practical concepts into the wide world. After that, the search engines take over.
My electronic files are live since September, 2009. So, what has happened? Here is a snapshot.
- In March, 2011 visitors from 55 countries viewed one or more pages.
- Page views tripled over a ten month period.
- No concept has gone viral (yet).
- ‘Ethics’ and ‘diversity/cultural leadership’ concepts have been the most widely viewed pages over the past ten months.
- ‘Develop leadership’ page has by far the most ‘clicks through’ to additional links.
Where do the people seeking leadership information on-line live?
What ‘search terms’ do people name that brings them to my site?
See for yourself. Here are the snapshot profiles from May, 2010 and March, 2011. The web-site has 29 pages. The top ten pages (based on total page views) are listed below.

If you have concepts to share, consider building your own web-site. If I can do it, anyone can.
My academic papers gathering dust in the basement are doing no good for anyone. I am seriously considering dusting off the papers and producing some YouTube video clips before recycling them. A person has to follow the trends!
People from around the world may benefit from your sharing what you know.
