WASHINGTON, October 29, 2013 — The real housewives of Hollywood have nothing on President Obama. There is no one who has ever lived who can spend money like he can.

Perhaps the part he loves most is that he is spending other people’s money.

As long as Obama is in the White House, there will be no fiscal restraint. And as long as the moderate establishment Republicans dominate the Republican Party, there will be no fiscal restraint.

Hopefully the country will survive until the adults can take control of the nation again.

If the government is going to spend money, then perhaps we should demand that it spend money on the one government program that actually worked.

And which program is that? What is the most successful government program of all time?

The Great Depression, the first Great Depression, ended only when Franklin Roosevelt managed to get America into World War II. The massive unemployment Roosevelt inflicted on America ended as millions of American men went into the military, and millions of American women went to work building the American war machine.

As the war was ending, some bright light in Washington realized there would be a huge problem as America demobilized after the war; millions of men would come home and not have jobs. So they came up with a brilliant idea — the G.I. Bill.

The G.I. Bill allowed a qualifying veteran to go to the school of his choice, study what he wanted, and even gave him an allowance to live off of.

What was the result?

America’s postwar economy boomed. Millions of highly educated businessmen and engineers made the economy explode and created the greatest standard of living the world has ever known.

Today we are living through the Great Obama Depression, and it is even worse than Roosevelt’s depression. We will not have a war bail us out because Obama is too busy helping our enemies.

Eventually we will recover from the Great Obama Depression. But what do we do now?

Right now, 90 million Americans are not in the work force. Many of them have few demanded skills.

If the federal government is going to spend money like drunken Democrats, then let’s spend money on a program that will give America a return on its investment.

Congress should create an American Bill for American citizens. We can offer a voucher to any American citizen who wants to pursue his or her education in a field that can help the economy grow. This voucher will pay tuition and give the student a stipend for room and board. In exchange, the student must pursue a serious course of study.

What is a “serious” course of study? It is business, science, engineering, computers, technology or math. A serious course of study is not sociology or philosophy or gay studies, feminist studies, ethnic studies or any of the other freak-show degrees that are nothing more than tickets for radicals to be employed in colleges or government.

American businesses scream they cannot get enough of the so-called STEM graduates: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. They claim we must import those people.  Here is the chance to stop importing foreign engineers and move Americans into those jobs.

Government spending is out of control; there is no doubt about that. Instead of wasting money on boondoggles like Solyndra, this is one instance where a government program could do some good for America and help keep this nation competitive in the global marketplace.

Judson Phillips is the founder of Tea Party Nation, one of the largest Tea Party Groups in the country and the number one national tea party site on the Internet.

A lawyer by profession, Judson has been involved in politics since his teens. “Ronald Reagan inspired me,” he says.

Judson became involved in the Tea Party movement in February 2009 after hearing Rick Santelli’s rant on CNBC.   “I heard there was going to be a Tea Party in Chicago inspired by Santelli, but didn’t know if anyone was doing a rally in Nashville where I was based.  Finally I emailed Michelle Malkin and asked her if there was a Tea Party in Nashville.  Malkin sent an email back saying, ‘No, why don’t you organize one?’  I did.”

The first Tea Party in Nashville was held late February 2009 which drew a crowd of about 600. Judson then organized the Tax Day Tea Party in Nashville, which drew over 10,000 people into downtown.   It was at this time that Tea Party Nation was formed.  Later that year, Judson decided to bring activists from across the country together, so he organized the first National Tea Party Convention in February 2010, which featured Alaska’s former Governor and Republican Vice Presidential Nominee, Sarah Palin as it’s keynote speaker.

He currently manages the Tea Party Nation website, writes several daily columns and is working on more projects than any one person should.  He is a frequent guest on cable and broadcast news shows, including on Fox, MSNBC, CNN and others.
