Trans Pacific Partnership - Obamatrade - worse for US than Obamacare

WASHINGTON, December 11, 2013 — As America reels from one Obamacare blow after another, President Obama, the architect of America’s economic collapse, is preparing yet one more body blow to an America still suffering through the Great Obama Depression.

Obama is pushing hard for something called the Trans Pacific Partnership.

If Obama’s goal was to destroy the American economy and American sovereignty, he could not have picked a better tool than a “free trade” agreement that will make America and Americans subject to laws and rulings from nameless, faceless, soulless bureaucrats who are unelected, unaccountable and, fearfully, anti-American.

The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is currently being negotiated in secret. Much like Obamacare — which Nancy Pelosi warned us we would have to pass in order to see what was in it — to find out what is in the TPP, we must pass an even worse piece of legislation.

TPP sells out American sovereignty, making American laws inferior to rulings by the World Bank and other international bodies, such as the United Nations. Americans who do business with foreign corporations will find their 7th Amendment rights to a civil jury trial are abrogated; American law will not apply.

Instead Americans may well be forced to litigate any disputes before an international tribunal in another nation.

Perhaps the greatest threat to American sovereignty comes from the Republicans who are aiding and abetting Barack Obama. Anytime you mention the words “free trade,” certain Republicans immediately come slobbering like Pavlov’s dog.

These Republicans want to aid Obama with something called Fast Track Authority. What that means is that they want to throw out Article One, Section Eight of the Constitution, which vests Congress with authority to regulate trade, and give it to the Obama Administration.

Under Fast Track Authority, the treaty is submitted to Congress and Congress is given a very limited time to debate it. Congress may then only vote up or down on the treaty. No amendments are allowed. Worse, Congress will only need a simple majority vote instead of the normal two-thirds vote needed to pass a treaty.

Obama promised Americans, “If you like your Doctor, then you can keep your Doctor.” He gave us Obamacare, which Congress had to pass before we could find out what is in it.

The Trans Pacific Partnership is being negotiated in secrecy, at least from regular Americans. Obama’s friends, the crony capitalists, are in the loop. All that anyone else can find out about TPP negotiations is through the leaks that are coming out of the negotiations.

Yesterday, Republican Representative Dave Camp from Michigan, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, announced his support for Fast Track Authority for the Obama negotiating team.

Given the Obama track record for negotiating, no sane person should be willing to allow his team to have the power to negotiate what to order for dinner. He is telling us that if we want to know what is in the Trans Pacific Partnership, we need to give him a blank check to write this treaty. That should scare us all.

Perhaps this time his promise will be, “If you like your sovereignty, you can keep your sovereignty.” Just like we can keep our doctors.

The TPP is nothing but Obamatrade. The only difference between Obamacare and Obamatrade is that Obamatrade will do even more damage to America.

Judson Phillips is the founder of Tea Party Nation, one of the largest Tea Party Groups in the country and the number one national tea party site on the Internet.

A lawyer by profession, Judson has been involved in politics since his teens. “Ronald Reagan inspired me,” he says.

Judson became involved in the Tea Party movement in February 2009 after hearing Rick Santelli’s rant on CNBC.   “I heard there was going to be a Tea Party in Chicago inspired by Santelli, but didn’t know if anyone was doing a rally in Nashville where I was based.  Finally I emailed Michelle Malkin and asked her if there was a Tea Party in Nashville.  Malkin sent an email back saying, ‘No, why don’t you organize one?’  I did.”

The first Tea Party in Nashville was held late February 2009 which drew a crowd of about 600. Judson then organized the Tax Day Tea Party in Nashville, which drew over 10,000 people into downtown.   It was at this time that Tea Party Nation was formed.  Later that year, Judson decided to bring activists from across the country together, so he organized the first National Tea Party Convention in February 2010, which featured Alaska’s former Governor and Republican Vice Presidential Nominee, Sarah Palin as it’s keynote speaker.

He currently manages the Tea Party Nation website, writes several daily columns and is working on more projects than any one person should.  He is a frequent guest on cable and broadcast news shows, including on Fox, MSNBC, CNN and others.
