WASHINGTON, December 18, 2012 — One cable channel plays “Songs of the Season” day and night, around the clock with little repetition. Some songs are paeans to this “most wonderful time of the year.” Others are funny songs like “I Saw Momma Kissing Santa Claus.” Some are cute ditties, such as “I’m Getting Nuttin’ for Christmas,” and some are even frivolous, such as “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.” Nevertheless, they have all earned a place in the pantheon of Christmas/Winter music.
Challenging though it may be, therefore, I reached my arm into six Christmas stockings “hung by the chimney with care” and have attempted to assemble a six-pack of the finest musical recordings to be played this season. Enjoy them along with your favorite six-pack.
Here then are the Six Picks:
STOCKING #6 - “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” by Perry Como
STOCKING #5 - “Christmas Time Is Here” by Vince Guaraldi
STOCKING #4 - “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby
STOCKING #3 - “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Judy Garland
STOCKING #2 - “The Christmas Waltz” by Frank Sinatra
STOCKING #1 - “The Christmas Song” by Nat “King” Cole
There you have it: a Six-Pack of Seasonal Songs. Hope you enjoyed the accompanying videos and even sang along.
