He is the son of John Wood, Sr., noted Jazz pianist and R&B vocalist Deonda Theus. John Wood, Jr. has worked in various fields, including marketing, the legal and medical industries, and also in politics. A student of theology, philosophy, history, economics and political science, he is currently running for congress in the 43rd district of California. He lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife and 2-year old son.
