WASHINGTON, D.C. February 12, 2013 — Honduran national team player Walter Martinez is currently training with D.C. United in Lake Mary, Florida as the team prepares for the new season just 19 days away.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has played 40 times for Honduras since 2002 scoring 12 goals.
Since 2012, Martinez has played in China: first with Beijing Guoan, and last year at Chongqing.
Martinez played against United with in 2009, scoring for Honduran club Marathon in a CONCACAF Champions League game.
United will face Western Conference side Real Salt Lake on Saturday, March 9 in its home opener of the 2013 MLS regular season. The club will begin its 2013 campaign on the road against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, March 2 in a rematch of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals.
