Product Review: Vitaquick: pressure cooker

Los Angeles, August 12, 2013  The new line of pressure cookers from Fissler presents German innovations that make pressure cooking more user-friendly. These steam machines increase cooking speed, improve the appearance of food cooked and eliminate old pressure cooking fears.

The Vitaquick is multifunctional and contains a large blue indicator, which offers gentle and speed cooking settings. It even provides a metal tongue on the lid to correctly position the top, plus and an audible “click” in the handle that indicates that the cooker is securely closed.

Cooking white rice on speed cooking with Vitaquick:

Step 1: Add water.
Step 2: Add rice.
Step 3: Securely fit the lid.
Step 4: Heat pressure cooker on high until first white ring is visible and then reduce the heat.
Step 5: Cook for 7 minutes.
Step 6: Vent steam and serve.

The rice came out perfect – soft, but still holding its shape.

Steamed Zucchinis on gentle speed:

Step 1: Add water.
Step 2: Place steam basket (included in the box).
Step 3: Add sliced zucchinis.
Step 4: Securely fit the lid.
Step 5: Heat pressure cooker on high until the beginning of the first white ring is visible and then reduce the heat.
Step 6: Cook for 3-4 minutes.
Step 7: Vent steam and serve.

This time the zucchinis were a bit overcooked but this was desired as they were to be turned into baby food.

First, the Vitaquick is really well designed. There are minimal pieces and the handle has a good feel to it.

Second, it is easy to clean.

Third, the best part is the fast cooking times. Rice can take an average of 40 minutes to cook but with this pressure cooker it takes about seven minutes and makes it that much more viable to include in meals.

Fourth, making stews and braises in half the time.


First, the instruction booklet is slightly intimidating – large with lot’s of information.

Second, operation requires patience and practice for optimal cooking.

Third, the gentle and speed cooking indicator is nice but it’s not quite direct about when to turn down the heat to transfer to gentle speed.

Overall Rating: 1 cup out of 1 cup, because even though there are a few cons, they are mostly about learning to use the product. Once basic knowledge has been achieved it is an overall great product that makes cooking easier and faster.
